“Lovely house” Well I couldn't fault the house. Lovely space great rooms in a good location 10 minutes walk in to York centre. Please be aware that there are 3 deep steps down in to the bathroom from the on suite bedroom. The kitchen was well equipped and the garden a lovely bonus. Unfortunately there was miscommunication on our arrival that spoilt the start of our stay. It was the first holiday for my son and his new wife after their wedding a few days earlier. They had come from Canada to visit family and get married and I had asked if we could get in earlier explaining this but we didn't get in any earlier. We were not greeted due to the owner being unable to come as his car was in the garage. There was no key for access and we had to wait for the cleaner to let us in. We arrived at 3pm the cleaner arrived at half past 3 when letting us in we were told the house hadn't been cleaned from the previous tenants and we ended up sitting around till it was cleaned this was done eventually by 5pm. What a shame because the house was lovely but it did spoil the fact that we expected a lovely start to the holiday after their wedding which is why I told the owner that they would be newly married when we arrived so everything would be perfect. At least the cleaner gave them a bottle of bubbly as an apology and congratulations!!!

“Home from home” Great apartment, close enough to the city to walk but far enough away that you can get away from the hustle and bustle. Cosy homely feel, with well stocked cupboards. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. Nothing was too much trouble prior to our visit and appreciated the welcome email just to check everything was ok on our arrival. Would recommend this apartment to anyone looking for a trip to York.

“Great location, beautiful house” We stayed for 2 nights, wish we could have stayed for more! Lovely clean holiday home, absolutely perfect location, walking distance to shops, restaurants etc. A welcome pack of breakfast bits and bobs and wine waiting for us, a very nice touch! Everything you need in the house. Unfortunately it rained so we couldn't use the BBQ or the lovely outdoor area looking over the river. If we return to York we would definitely book again. Highly recommended!!

“Excellent apartment right in the middle of York” We stayed at this apartment for 2 weeks recently and cannot fault it. The owners include special touches such as milk, cereals, sauces, toiletries and even a bottle of wine and slice of cake! Beautifully appointed and very cosy. It is in a fabulous location right in the centre of York and so handy to so many good pubs, restaurants, public transport and shopping. Highly recommend!

“Delightful, very special flat in perfect location” We parked by the Castle and a few minutes' walk brought us to the well-maintained and inviting Merchants Place. This was not the inner city flat one might expect, but something very comfortable and modern, with a child friendly balcony and stunning views. I thought the ultra modern hob would defeat me, but there were excellent instructions so that was not a problem. The bathroom was downright swish, and the layout overall very comfortable. I look forward to another stay.

“Excellent apartment, perfect location, easy to use appliances, generous welcome pack.” Perfect location, easy walking distance to main attractions (York Minster, Art Gallery, Theatre Royal, Grand Opera House, Castle Museum, Restaurants, Shopping Centre, Supermarkets.) Stunning modern decor with quality bed linen and towels. Every self-catering appliance imaginable (dishwasher, washing machine, microwave, hob and oven, fridge, sparkling clean cupboards, pans, crockery and cutlery. TV in sitting room and second TV/DVD in bedroom. Garage available if required). Welcome hamper included Cava, fresh tiger loaf, fruit, milk, coffee, sugar, tea. Lynne is the perfect hostess, friendly and helpful. We're so glad we've found this gem of an apartment - we plan to return very soon. Three friends were so impressed they've taken contact details for future reference.

“Excellent Apartment” Warm welcome from Karen (owner), she showed us round and let us know how everything worked. We were given a starter pack which included a few essential groceries i.e milk, butter, cereal,coffee,juice etc. The apartment was spotless and could not find fault. Very well furnished and extremely modern. Beds extremely comfy and we all had the best sleep while we were here. Very spacious. We didn't realise how close it was to the city centre, only a two minute walk over the bridge and you are into the hustle and bustle of York. Lots to do and see and the Jorvick Centre is a must. Parking for apartment was excellent, an assigned space within a locked courtyard. Overall an excellent trip and would come back in a heartbeat. Thanks so much Karen and John for making our trip worthwhile as we feel accommodation plays a massive part in your enjoyment of your trip.

“Very well equipped countryside cottage” Booked this break only a few weeks before our stay; no problems with booking. Arrived earlier than we expected but this wasn't a problem; the cottage was ready for us. I was very impressed with how well equipped the kitchen was. This made our stay so much easier. Judy was so welcoming and our daughter loved the friendly dogs! Very comfy double bed! Whilst the property was advertised as having wifi, we found this to be very "hit and miss" and only once had a connection for more than a few minutes. The lack of a shower curtain (probably because it is a wetroom suitable for those with a disability) meant that the whole bathroom got soaked after every shower. The cottage is quite remote and in lovely countryside- perfect for a relaxing break but no shops within walking distance for a newspaper etc. Convenient for visiting York which we did everyday we were there. However, rather than trying to park in York it is far cheaper and more convenient to use the park and ride at the designer outlet.

“Perfect house, perfect location!!” We came to York for a hen party with a group of 12. The house was perfect with 6 bedrooms, comfy beds and 3 bathrooms. It is in easy walk (about 10 mins) of the city centre, with handy shops nearby. Lovely big kitchen and double oven made cooking easy for lots of people and it was very well equipped. Would recommend for both large groups and families. Would be lovely to come in the summer to enjoy the garden :)

“Perfect Flat in perfect location!” Stayed here for my boyfriends birthday and what a great place. Beautifully decorated and high ceilings which I love! The welcome package was very thoughtful and we thoroughly enjoyed our bottle of Prosecco after visiting the Christmas markets. The flat is only a 10 minute walk from central York so made it very easy to not use the car which was securely parked outside. Keith and Jayne are a pleasure to deal with and I would 100% book here again in the future when visiting York. My sister in law loved the Christmas tree set up in the front room too :) thanks again!

“Lovely large property in a very central position.” We will always have fond memories of our stay here as this is where our daughter got ready on her wedding day. A lovely spacious house, centrally located and with it's own parking space ..albeit a bit tight if you have a large vehicle, but we managed. Communication with the owners was good and they couldn't be more helpful. I would definitely stay here again, we had a lovely stay...thank you!

“My 60th Birthday with my family” Where do I begin my first impressions when we arrived at Waterside Lodge was the WOW ! factor. A beautiful place in the most picturesque Setting the house has everything that you would need spotlessly clean and so much space unbelievable are the grounds was perfect for the family to join me for my special 60th birthday. A party of 10 which Included my two granddaughters five and three who loved the trampoline the games room was amazing where we played Snooker darts and watching a family film on the biggest TV I have ever seen was like been at The cinema. Everyone enjoyed relaxing in the large hot tub outside overlooking the lake I would recommend Waterside Lodge as a place to stay we will be definitely looking to return May I say a big thank you to Peter and Ann you were fantastic in your responses to any questions we asked and thank you for allowing us to stay at your beautiful place hope to see you again kind regards Bernie X
