“Fantastic and thoroughly relaxing cottage” Excellent, excellent, excellent! Chosen for our honeymoon retreat, we were not disappointed. We particularly liked the personal touches - welcoming drinks, fresh flowers in almost every room and a small card re our recent marriage (the card was much appreciated, especially as the owners were out of the country on their own holiday upon our arrival).
The cottage contains everything you could possible need to make your stay relaxing and enjoyable. The weather during our stay was not brilliant, but sat inside such a cosy cottage with a real fire glowing via the wood burning stove - who cares! The rain couldn't even dampen our spirits whilst sat in the lovely hot tub and having a glass of bubbly!
The location of the cottage provided a good base for all of the things we wanted to see and do in the Wye Valley & surrounding area, including a trip over the 'border' to Bristol and Weston-super-Mare. There is a 24 hour Tesco's in Chepstow (about 10-15 mins drive away) for all your food and drink wants.
So overall, a truly great place to stay to relax and unwind in peaceful and very quiet surroundings. We would definitely book again and would recommend to our family and friends. What more can we say!
“Perfect relaxing family weekend in a stunning cottage” My shoulders dropped the moment we stepped into Tintern abbey Cottage and my little family explored their new home for the weekend. I booked this weekend as a surprise 40th birthday present for my husband and it was just perfect. I was expecting it to be lovely having studied the pictures and reviews online but finishing touches such as freshly cut flowers, home made blackcurrant vodka, logs for the fire, welsh cakes, wine and a personal greeting from Malcolm made us feel instantly at home. Highlights were playing board games in front of the fire, misty early morning walks in our pyjamas, Sunday lunch at the Moon and Sixpence, enjoying a glass of red at The anchor whilst watching our children play, exploring Tintern and the abbey and just generally mooching around the cottage and being together. We had grand plans to explore Chepstow Castle, Monmouth, Puzzle Wood and the Big Pit but we pretty much just stayed put and relaxed. We will be going back to do it all again!!
