We had a really good long weekend in this lovely characterful cottage. We (husband, myself, daughter, son in law, granddaughter, son & daughter in law, ) all had plenty of room, very comfortable beds & everything we needed, in this really central, beautiful village in the Gower.
The local shop/post office was run by friendly staff ( you can draw cash here if you need it ) & sold papers, fresh bread & necessities and Swansea is only 20/25 mins away, with all the big supermarkets, shops, restaurants, parks, art galleries you could possibly need. The pub across the green does great meals. But the scenery and beaches are the real draw to the Gower.
We had fantastic weather so tried out Rhossilli, Oxwich and Cardwell beaches ( even having a swim in the sea!) They were all lovely.
One small warning, the stairs are open so this wouldn't really be suitable for small children. But with three lovely double beds, it's ideal for a group like ours. We certainly hope to go again. …

The Old Vicarage
The perfect place for my 50th birthday celebration!
I'd almost given up trying to find the place I had imagined to celebrate my birthday with close family and friends.
It needed to be flexible enough to sleep couples, singles and children, spacious enough so we wouldn't be on top of each other if the weather wasn't great, and have plenty to do nearby for all ages...
And as I needed to ask my guests both to travel a long way and share the cost of rental with me, I wanted the house to have a special something that would make it all feel worthwhile.
The Old Vicarage is all this and more!
The house itself is light, spacious and very elegantly but extremely comfortably furnished and we all quickly felt at home. There are open rural views from just about every window. The garden is great, with lovely sitting out spaces and that all important expanse of grass for kids to race up and down - fantastic, especially for those of us from the big city.
Within 10/15 minutes drive you're at amazing Rhossili, with its stunning views over miles of beach and out to Worm's Head; or head in the other direction to Parkmill where you can walk through leafy woodland down to perfect Three Cliffs Bay.
We also went to Perriswood (even closer to the Vicarage) which needs a separate recommendation in itself. We had a fun archery session with helpful tuition for all ages, and then a fantastic time being introduced to their birds of prey, learning about them, holding them and watching them fly in front of the most stunning natural backdrop you're ever likely to see.
Food-wise, the Vicarage has great kitchen space for self-catering. We'd also recommend the Bay Bistro at Rhossili, with fantastic views and lovely fresh food. Also the King Arthur pub at Reynoldston, a Gower institution in another wonderful setting.
Ali and Mike were so helpful and flexible - a dream to deal with. And the weather was perfect! We are conjuring excuses to go back... …
