Location description from owner

The South Wales region

The Gower peninsula was the UK's first designated area of outstanding natural beauty.

The peninsula has many beautiful beaches ranging from Three Cliffs (voted the best beach in Europe) to Caswell & the world famous Rhossilli beach with the scenic Worm's Head promontory.

The Old Vicarage provides easy access to the north& south Gower coast.

The north coast has green fields and villages sweeping gently down to the sea.

The south coast has limestone cliffs and some of Europe's best loved sandy bays with easy access for walkers and cars.

There are too many "must see" highlights in and around Gower but most visitors ensure they visit Rhossili, Three Cliffs and spend at least one day in the seaside village of Mumbles with it's great variety of independent shops, bars, restaurants and cafes.

The walk from Parkmill to Three Cliffs follows a fast flowing stream through a beautiful, wooded valley with the haunting Pennard Castle overlooking Three Cliffs Bay is simply stunning.

Reynoldston

The Old Vicarage is perfectly situated to provide easy access to all of the activities, countryside, beaches and entertainment that Gower offers all visitors.

The house is within walking distance of 20 to 25 minutes of the renowned 5 star Fairyhill Restaurant and the delightful King Arthur Country Pub.

World class beaches vary from a few minutes to 15 minutes drive through beautiful countryside.

Mumbles is a delightful village just a short drive away and offers a wealth of high quality restaurants, bars and independent shops.

A wide range of activities are available including hiking, cycling, horse riding, surfing, watersports and golf.

“The perfect place for my 50th birthday celebration!”

Reviewed 19 Apr 2015

I'd almost given up trying to find the place I had imagined to celebrate my birthday with close family and friends. It needed to be flexible enough to sleep couples, singles and children, spacious enough so we wouldn't be on top of each other if the weather wasn't great, and have plenty to do nearby for all ages... And as I needed to ask my guests both to travel a long way and share the cost of rental with me, I wanted the house to have a special something that would make it all feel worthwhile. The Old Vicarage is all this and more! The house itself is light, spacious and very elegantly but extremely comfortably furnished and we all quickly felt at home. There are open rural views from just about every window. The garden is great, with lovely sitting out spaces and that all important expanse of grass for kids to race up and down - fantastic, especially for those of us from the big city. Within 10/15 minutes drive you're at amazing Rhossili, with its stunning views over miles of beach and out to Worm's Head; or head in the other direction to Parkmill where you can walk through leafy woodland down to perfect Three Cliffs Bay. We also went to Perriswood (even closer to the Vicarage) which needs a separate recommendation in itself. We had a fun archery session with helpful tuition for all ages, and then a fantastic time being introduced to their birds of prey, learning about them, holding them and watching them fly in front of the most stunning natural backdrop you're ever likely to see. Food-wise, the Vicarage has great kitchen space for self-catering. We'd also recommend the Bay Bistro at Rhossili, with fantastic views and lovely fresh food. Also the King Arthur pub at Reynoldston, a Gower institution in another wonderful setting. Ali and Mike were so helpful and flexible - a dream to deal with. And the weather was perfect! We are conjuring excuses to go back...

“Stunning House, Fantastic Location”

Reviewed 24 Feb 2015

I brought a group of friends to the Old Vicarage for a long weekend. We've been taking similar holidays for about ten years and this is one of the best properties we've stayed in - extremely comfortable, very spacious and very pretty. The location is also excellent, right in the heart of the Gower, a short drive from Mumbles and close to beaches and activities. The owners were extremely helpful and couldn't do enough for us. I hope to come back soon, and would definitely recommend the house.

“The Gower Vicarage - can't wait to go back !”

Reviewed 7 Jan 2015

The Old Vicarage was a perfect house to accommodate the 3 generations of our family that stayed for the week after Christmas and the 4 generations that brought in the New Year. The house was beautifully decorated, comfortable, cosy and with great facilities - The huge kitchen really was the heart of the house ! Despite having 4 teenagers and grandparents in our party there was plenty of room both inside and out for everyone to relax, watch TV and play games. The refectory table in the conservatory was big enough for us all to sit comfortably at meal times, enjoying the view. Nearby the beaches of Rhossili Bay and Port Eynon were perfect for winter walks. We even had a go at Archery at the falcon and archery centre 5 minutes down the road (recommended). The local information provided was also comprehensive and very useful. We have enjoyed the Gower in the summer and know how beautiful it is , so it was wonderful to experience it in Winter in such a lovely house surrounded by family. We had a couple of minor issues while we were at the house and Alison and Mike dealt with them very quickly despite it being Christmas week. They were also friendly and professional to deal with. In summary , lovely house and great location
