Dorset country cottage with self catering for two in Witchampton.

Situated on the outskirts of the picturesque and historic village of Witchampton in the Vale of the River Allen. Much care was expended in converting this old telephone exchange into a relaxing holiday retreat for the discerning couple.

Its location gives the best of all worlds - equally close to the Isle of Purbeck or the New Forest, and adjacent to Cranborne Chase - yet only ten minutes from Wimborne itself with its historic Minster and charming shops.

The accommodation consists of one double en-suite bedroom, fully fitted kitchen, separate cloakroom, lounge with extensive views over the countryside. The property has a cosy oil fired central heating system and wifi. There is ample parking outside for at least two cars.

There is so much to do from here - walking, mountain biking, fishing, sailing courses, mooching and tea shopping, pub lunches, great restaurants ....or absolutely nothing and let the world roll by.

Getting around

We recommend use of a car as transport links to the property are infrequent. Wimborne and Poole have ample parking and excellent bus routes across Dorset. Train services from Poole to Wareham and Weymouth are also fun.

“the Old Exchange”

This cottage is ideal for exploring the area of Dorset, the coast and inland. The amenities are excellent, everything one would need on holiday. We visited many gardens, and much admired them, from Stourhead, Kingston Lacey, Furzey, this was my favourite, and private houses, too. The route to Blandford Forum has spectacular views over the countryside, and the verges are filled with wild flowers.

We used the old exchange as our base for a 4day trip during which we explored both the local surroundings and the Dorset coast. It's a Tardis of a place, and we found it really relaxing with all we needed to be home from home, Sarah was delightful, and we'll be back!

How do damage deposits work?
