Location description from owner

The England region

Taunton

The Blackdown Hills is a range of hills along the Somerset-Devon border in south-western England, which was designated an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). It is a very quiet and rural part of the country. Much of the land is used for farming. There are many different types of habitat in the area which means that the area supports a really diverse wildlife population. This includes bats, otters, lizards, dormice, kingfishers, barn owls and nightjars.

Despite the rural setting, The Old Pigsty is in a very good location to access Taunton and Wellington (both approximately 15 minutes drive). There are also some very good local pubs. The walking, cycling and horse riding in the area is outstanding. There are many footpaths and bridlepaths, but also the lanes are very quiet indeed.
