Location description from owner

The England region

Goldicote is just outside a small village called Loxley.
Stratford Upon Avon only 4 miles away is a beautiful town and home, most obviously, to The Royal Shakespeare Theatre as well as William Shakespeare's Birthplace - and a total of five houses connected with him to visit.
This whole area is steeped in history - National Trust Properties and Gardens, Heritage Properties, Landscaped Gardens, Castles, Canals, Moated Houses, Water Parks, Farm Parks, Arboreteums, Museums, Ramblers Walks..........You can play Golf, hire a Motor Boat or Rowing Boat, take a trip on a Barge, hire a Punt, go up in a Glider, visit a Haunted House, take a Balloon ride, walk the longest Aquaduct in Europe, go Clay Pigeon Shooting, buy scrumptious local produce at our superb Farmers Market, visit a local Brewery, enjoy a night at the Theatre, eat in the most wonderfully diverse array of Restaurants, Bars and Hotels - and all within a five minute car ride of the Cottage! There are few finer places in the UK to go shopping than Stratford Upon Avon, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Birmingham and all of these places are just a short distance away. What could be better than going out for the day into the hustle and bustle of these major Towns and then returning to the Cottage to change for Dinner out at one of our superb Local restaurants. Whether you wish for simple English food or perhaps Chinese, Greek, Caribbean, Italian, Thai, French - these, and more, are all available a short distance away.
There is more to see and do than we have managed in the years that we have lived here, and we will happily recommend to you days out based around your personal preferences.

Stratford-upon-Avon

Being only 20 miles from central Birmingham, 30 miles from the NEC, 4 miles from Stratford Upon Avon, 12 miles from Leamington Spa and Warwick, and only a 30 minute car journey from many Towns and Villages in the Cotswolds there are umpteen things happening throughout the Year around and about in the area.

“Another wonderful stay at Bluebell Cottage”

Reviewed 10 Aug 2013

Stayed here for the second time this year, this time for 6 nights. Standard as good as last time we stayed, but the weather was better this time! Once again Charles and Kim were very welcoming and very helpful with local information. Cottage beautiful and well maintained with lots to do within easy driving distance. This is a gem of a find, very peaceful and relaxing with lots going on just a short drive away. 8 year old son loved the snooker table and the games that were in the house (he has now discovered a love of Cluedo and we now have this game at home!). Brilliant break and would love to go back again next year if we get the chance.

It means so much to us that you have returned to Bluebell Cottage and that you have had another enjoyable break. The summer weather has been lovely compared to earlier in the year and with all the attractions we have in Stratford and surrounding Cotswolds makes sightseeing so much more enjoyable. We thankyou for writing a review and hope to see you again. We are glad your son enjoyed Cluedo. Best wishes Charles and Kim Wall

“Lovely comfortable home, great location”

Reviewed 12 Apr 2013

Had a four night stay here over Easter 2013, what a fantastic time we had. Cottage was everything it promised, very comfortable with all amenities and surprisingly large!! Great welcome from the owner who was on hand to answer all we needed to know about the location. Had some great days out in both Stratford upon Avon and Warwick. After all that walking was great to get into the Spa bath in the evening. 7 year old son loved the pool table and the trampoline in the adjoining field - just a shame that he is afraid of animals so wasn't keen to use it a second time due to the chickens. Would love to come back in the summer when we can make more use of the lovely garden (it was extremely cold this easter!) One additional point, response great on original booking enquiry and answered all our queries promptly on email before we went.

So pleased that you and your family enjoyed the Easter Break at Bluebell Cottage and found it to be comfortable and spacious. We are glad to hear that your son liked the trampoline,as for the chickens they can be extremely inquisitive. Thank you for taking time to write a review and we hope to see you again in the summer and hope the sun will shine. Best wishes Charles and Kim Wall

“Well-equipped quiet cottage within easy reach of Stratford”

Reviewed 8 Feb 2013

This is a nice well-equipped cottage with a big kitchen/conservatory with views over the countryside. It is located in a very quiet area with good walks and pubs nearby in the villages of Loxley and Ettington. Stratford is within easy reach just 10 minutes drive away, if that. The 2 bedrooms are small but comfortable and the bathroom is a good size with a shower/bath including a "spa" option. The living room is also a good size with a proper wood stove for extra heating and a sofa bed for extra guests. There is a nice little garden outside too which backs on to open fields. The owners are very friendly and helpful and live next-door so are on-hand to help most of the time in the event of any problems. Overall, we would definitely recommend this place and hope to come again.

We are delighted to know that you found the cottage to be well equipped, in a quiet location set in the countryside, with walks to the local villages but only four miles away from Stratford. We thank you for taking the time to write a review and hope to see you again in the future. Many thanks Charles and Kim Wall

“Great Christmas holiday with family”

Reviewed 9 Jan 2013

We wanted a property close to Stratford as family and friends are close by. The location was great, the property was just as detailed and as we have two dogs this was a great location for walks and the property is pet friendly with secure garden. Owners friendly and helpful. Would recommend and return again. Thank you.

We are so pleased that your family and dogs enjoyed staying at Bluebell Cottage over the Christmas period and found the location perfect for your needs. Thank you for taking the time to write a review and we hope to see you again in the future. Best wishes Charles and Kim Wall

“A jewel in the crown of the English countryside, an oasis of tranquility in unspoilt beautiful surroundings.”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2011

A lovely traditional cottage that in an instant facilitates complete relaxation. On our arrival we were warmly welcomed by the owners and appreciated the ample space to park and unload our luggage. The cottage is spacious yet cosy and has been sensitively furnished to retain its identity and character. There is a beautiful garden to gaze at or sit in with views across open countryside. This is a place where we were able to be ourselves. When we arrived it was the end of a late summer day and we were amazed at the silence of the surroundings and the sunset. Time seemed to stand still here and we would recommend Bluebell cottage for any time of the year.

Thank you for your kind review. We are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay at Bluebell and that you found the cottage and surrounding countryside so peaceful and relaxing. We look forward to seeing you again next year. Best wishes Charles and Kim Wall

“Lovely break!”

Reviewed 24 Aug 2011

Went away with 4 other friends for a summer break and had a brilliant time! Owners living next door were very welcoming and accommodating. We all really loved the cottage, comfy beds and decorated to feel very homely. We particularly liked the spa bath and pool table! Thanks for a lovely trip to sunny Stratford!

Thank you so much for taking the time to write your comments. We are very pleased that you and your friends had such an enjoyable break and that you found the cottage so homely. Hope to see you in sunny Stratford again. Best wishes Charles and Kim Wall

“Family venue”

Reviewed 30 May 2011

A peaceful welcoming location only a few minutes from busy Stratford-Upon-Avon with many attractions. A good base for exploring the Cotswolds or Birmingham City Centre the choice is yours. For those who love walking or dog owners there are plenty of good walks - the old railway line near the Racecourse is ideal. All our family love the Cottage and location our ages range from early 20s to 60. A warm welcome is always given and whatever help is needed is given freely to help you have an excellent break.

Thank you for your kind review. It is so rewarding for us to have the same faces keep returning to Bluebell, knowing that they love the cottage and area as much as we do. Look forward to seeing you again in September. Best wishes Charles and Kim Wall.
