There are several areas within the large garden where you may sit and enjoy a glass of wine and take in the countryside air. We are fortunate to have an acclaimed private Livery Stable (not open to the public) next door to our Property and so generally there is a large and varied assortment of beautiful horses milling around in the field adjacent to our grounds (they are wonderful to look at, but each is privately owned and so they are not unfortunately available to ride!) Horse riding is available a very short distance away however........

Location description from owner

The England region

As we know from our own Family holidays booking a Holiday Home with things to do when the great English weather turns wet and windy is very important. Holiday time is rare and usually hard earned - having a heated Indoor Swimming Pool means if it is wet, or even too hot for that matter(!), there is always something to do for everyone.....

We are in a small Hamlet equidistant between Stratford Upon Avon and Henley In Arden (3 miles from each.) We are very close to Warwick and the wonderful Warwick Castle. A short drive will take you to the beautiful Cotswolds. We are a mere 20 minute drive from the NEC.

Stratford Upon Avon is a beautiful Town and home, most obviously, to The Royal Shakespeare Theatre as well as William Shakespeare's Birthplace - and a total of five Houses connected with him to visit.

This whole area is steeped in History - National Trust Properties and Gardens, Heritage Properties, Landscaped Gardens, Castles, Canals, Moated Houses, Water Parks, Farm Parks, Arboreteums, Museums, Ramblers Walks..........You can play Golf, hire a Motor Boat or Rowing Boat, take a trip on a Barge, hire a Punt, go up in a Glider, visit a Haunted House, take a Balloon ride, walk the longest Aquaduct in Europe, go Clay Pigeon Shooting, buy scrumptious local produce at our superb Farmers Market, visit a local Brewery, enjoy a night at the Theatre, eat in the most wonderfully diverse array of Restaurants, Bars and Hotels - and all within a five minute car ride of The Lodge!

There are few finer places in the UK to go shopping than Stratford Upon Avon, Warwick, Leamington Spa, Birmingham and all of these places are just a short distance away. What could be better than going out for the day into the hustle and bustle of these major Towns and then returning to the Lodge to change for Dinner out at one of our superb Local restaurants. Whether you wish for simple English food or perhaps Chinese, Greek, Caribbean, Italian, Thai, French - these, and more, are all available a short distance away.

There is more to see and do than we have managed in the years that we have lived here, and we will happily recommend to you days out based around your personal preferences.

Stratford-upon-Avon

Being only 20 miles from central Birmingham, 3 miles from Stratford Upon Avon and Henley In Arden, very close to Warwick and Leamington Spa, and only a short car journey from the Cotswolds there are umpteen things happening throughout the Year around and about in the area.

You will find in the Apartment loads of local information and ideas of things to do to help plan your time here. A superb day out may include visiting infamous Broadway in the Cotswolds or the beautiful and historic Towns of Chipping Campden or Bourton on the Water.

The Website www.visitstratforduponavon.co.uk gives a brief outline of some of the many places to visit, and things to do, in beautiful Stratford Upon Avon.

One of our well known local Pubs/Restaurants is "The Kings Head" in Aston Cantlow, famous for its Duck Suppers - voted the Best Warwickshire Country Pub for several years. Another local Pub, just about half a mile away, does fabulous full take away Meals that many of our Guests have sampled and say are excellent - no need for anyone to cook then! Domino’s Pizza will even deliver a fabulous Pizza or chicken Wings and potato skins if you do not wish to leave the comfort of the Lodge! Everything you need is catered for locally. We have Village Shops close by and there is a 24hour Tesco just a few minutes away.
There are many other fabulous Restaurants locally, several spectacular Golf Courses, and many superb country walks - also we are on the edge of the Cotswolds with its endless superb days out and historic and romantic places to visit.....Warwick, Leamington Spa and Oxford are all a short drive away - and why not spend one day at Bicester Shopping Village snapping up those wonderful designer bargains! Perhaps a Days Horse Racing at either Stratford or Warwick Race Courses.

“Quiet, peaceful and exactly as promoted”

Reviewed 11 Apr 2014

A very enjoyable stay for my wife and I along with our two year old. The facilities were exactly as we expected them and the private swimming pool was used extensively by our toddler who took great joy in swimming from end to end repeatedly. (Note - the pool is 4ft deep throughout so I would not recommend it for very young children as there is no shallow end) The booking process was incredibly efficient, and took only a few emails, with all questions answered extremely promptly. The lodge was well worth the additional expense over more basic accommodation.

Thank you very much indeed for your kind Review. We are delighted that you all had such a great time and enjoyed the Pool so much. We have had hundreds of children of all ages from six months old and upwards learn to swim in our Pool over the last five years and we look forward to having many more learn at the Lodge swimming pool too...Have a great Summer! David & Jan.

“Idyllic”

Reviewed 1 Nov 2013

We arrived on a Friday afternoon after a long car journey and were welcomed with a deliscious carrot cake that set the tone for the rest of the weekend. The apartment was the perfect size for the 5 of us and had everything that we needed for our girls weekend. It's a short drive to Tesco and Stratford Town Centre - though we only left the apartment because we had theatre tickets! The pool was a dream - lovely and warm. The only thing missing was towels. I found it a little odd that there were no towels provided at all (previous apartments have always provided them), though it was simple enough to bring some since we were arriving by car. All in all, a lovely relaxing weekend in a beautiful part of the world - I'm already looking for a reason to go back! Highly recommended :-)

Thank you very much for your great Review! We are really pleased that you all had such a good time and particularly delighted that you enjoyed the Pool so much. We do offer Towels if needed and mention this in our Advert and the Information sheet that we send out before our Guests arrive but we do use an outside Company for this and we feel that they do charge rather a lot and so we recommend that our Guests bring their own Towels for free! We look forward to your next visit as we know you are looking forward to finding another excuse to return and stay in the Lodge again!

“Great place to relax with friends with added bonus of being near Stratford and it's own swimming pool.”

Reviewed 15 May 2012

Warm welcome from hosts and welcome pack appreciated. Property appeared to be small when we first entered but actually it was just the right size. particularly liked the fact that the dining and sitting areas were together as we could all "participate" in conversation. Beds really comfortable and the pool was the icing on the cake.Hairdriers in every bedroom and unlimited hotwater were appreciated as there were 6 of us (all women) using the showers. Location was ideal, however, you would need a car or taxi to get about. It was a shame that the nearest pub had closed in April but we enjoyed the walk regardless and were sorry that we hadn't discovered the canal and towpath earlier in the day!

Thank you for your Review. We are glad that you appreciated how spacious The Lodge is and we are delighted that you all had such a lovely time. Hope to see you all again soon.... David & Jan.

“Great weekend reunion”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2011

I can say on behalf of my friends and myself that we all had a fantastic weekend. The owners did everything possible to make our stay the best it could be as they were very flexible with our needs. The accomodation was in great condition and all the furniture and amenities were very modern and clean. The Lodge was great for an evening of lots of fun and also for a much quieter relaxed evening the following night. We really enjoyed the pool, it was a great size and a great bonus. I would definitely recommend this to others, especially if you were to book out both Lodges.

You did all seem to have a great time and we are delighted that you all enjoyed yourselves so much..... David & Jan.

“What a great place”

Reviewed 3 Nov 2011

We got a very warm welcome from the owners, who showed us our lodge. What a lovely warm, clean place it was, and a lovely welcome pack. It did not take us long to settle ourselves in for the weekend. The children (5 in all) woke early very excited about using the lovely swimming pool, (which we had to ourselves). There really is so much choice what to do in the area, the children enjoyed going through all the leaflets that were in the lodge and choosing places to go. A great weekend!

We are delighted that you all enjoyed yourselves so much and it was great to hear that the children had so much fun in the Pool! David & Jan.

“A perfect Retreat”

Reviewed 9 Oct 2011

This Lodge was perfect for relaxing, and the private use of the swimming pool was great, the pool was set at a perfect temperature. Everywhere was immaculate, pool area, Lodge and bedding were all to a very high standard. On arrival there was a lovely welcome pack and the owners were on hand to expain any issues. The area was quiet and peaceful, but within a ten minute drive you were in the local village where there was an array of restaurants and lovely shops. We will certainly be going back.

Thank you very much for taking the time to write your Review....we did not realise when you booked our Lodge that you had actually got your own holiday Property that you also rent through the Holiday Lettings Website so we consider this high praise indeed from a fellow Owner! David & Jan.

“Great place, great pool, great stay”

Reviewed 5 Sep 2011

Well appointed lodge with everything we needed and the added bonus of the private pool! Perfect for a weekend meet up with friends. Only a short drive into Stratford and Henley so a great base to explore the area.

We were delighted to read that you all enjoyed yourselves so much. It does make our efforts much more worthwhile! Thank you. David & Jan.

“A great little property for a reunion”

Reviewed 1 Sep 2011

We had a lovely stay at this property and the owners went out of their way to make our stay enjoyable - including a substantial welcome food package and even a couple of jars of homemade jam left by the pool when we went for a swim one morning.

We are glad that you all had such a good time....... David & Jan.

“Perfect for families for a relaxing break”

Reviewed 22 Jul 2011

We stayed in July with two girls 7and 9 years olds. The accommodation was very clean, well equipped and modern with very comfy beds! It is located in a peaceful, small village with plenty of local walks.David the owner was very attentive and dealt with any queries promptly. The house is situated in secure gated grounds allowing for more freedom for children. It was fantastic to have the swimming pool, either in the morning or afternoon on a rota basis, so that you had sole use of the pool and our girls could splash and play as much as they wanted without having to be worried about other pool users. In fact any excursions had to be worked around the pool times as our children enjoyed it so much! It is perfectly situated near Stratford Upon Avon, Cotswolds and visits to Cadburys World and Warwick castle kept the kids amused. We had a lovely stay here and would certainly recommend it.

We are both really pleased that you all had such a good time. David & Jan.
