- Very Good
Beautiful little cottage in a beautiful location. Very clean with modern amenities. Just the right size for two people and a dog. Comfortable, warm and very relaxing. We didn’t want to leave. Will definitely book again.
“Wonderful cottage, fantastic location”
What a little gem... we had a brilliant stay here. Loved the many walks from our doorstep and close by Munros. The dog loved swimming in the loch after the long walks!! The cottage was welcoming and cosy to come back to. Home from home. Loved every minute. Thank you!
“Cottage of Deams”
My parter and I, along with out dog Bolt enjoyed a magical week at the Craigdarroch Cottage in St Fillans, this is our second visit to the cottage, though last time was only for the weekend. The cottage is kitted out with everything you could possibly need, and usually there is tea, coffee etc left over from the last people, and I always like to keep with it so I to made sure there was tea coffee sugar etc. The cottage is situated behind one of the Hotels, which is lovely and secluded and means that you are away from the main road. Within is all open plan which is perfect for dogs who have separation anxiety like ours. Meaning they know where you are all the time. The wood burning stove is a massive boost making it feel even more homely ! Although we didn't need it with the warm weather we got, my partner still insisted on lighting it on Thursday night just so he could say he had done it.. (MEN!) St Fillans is a beautiful village with plenty of enjoyable (and easy) walks around the loch! Lots of fishers out on the banks, again my partner being a very keen fisher bought a permit from the village store, however on his own recomendation he thinks it would be worth hiring a boat to fish as the bank fishing didn't serve him well, although two lovely brown trout were caught! Just 10 minutes away is Comrie, which again has some amazing walks with great views, and on my recommendation, the pet shop is a great place to stop! The lady is very knowledgeable and helped us with Bolts ticks that he had picked up (even if you don't have your four legged friend I would advice taking a tick remover and some anti bacterial cream) she also helped guide us to some lovely walks around the area. We ate in quite a lot as we weren't sure how our furbaby would take to having to sit and watch us eat somewhere, as he does not like being left alone, however we did have lunch at the Riverside Inn, in Callander who are very dog friendly and provide water bowls and treats ! The food was AMAZING ! And VERY well priced! We also visited Mhor84 as you head out of Loch Earnhead, again dog friendly, the food was slightly more expensive but was very much worth it! All in all the reason I have left such a long review is because we have adored our stay here and really did not want to leave! We would move in permanently in a heartbeat. If you love the outdoors and love great views and idillic surroundings, this is the place to go!!
“Holidaying with Dogs”
Craidarroch cottage is highly recommended by us. We have just been on a 5 night stay with our 3 dogs and it was perfect; cosy, modern, warm, very comfortable bed and really homely. Perfect location next to the loch, and ideal for exploring the trossachs and highlands.
Firstly, this place is the perfect retreat. Walks directly from your front door. Secondly, dog friendly is a understatement. We were greeted with a bottle of fizz, dog treats and poop bags! We forgot to take our dog bed and bowl with us and when we arrived we found there was some there! And lastly, the cottage is beautifully designed, perfectly decorated and we had everything we needed for a great few nights away from the busy city. The local restaurant/bar is less than a minute walk away and welcomes dogs in the bar area. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for an escape. We will be back.
“When you're planning your next visit the day you arrive, that's a good sign :o)”
A well thought out restoration of a lovely little cottage. Situated in the middle of the village of St Fillans, it is tucked back off the main road but still gives some wonderful views out over Loch Earn. The open plan lounge/kitchen/dining area has all you could need, making the most of the space available, and manages to pull off being big enough, yet cosy. Yes, the bedroom and bathroom are both snug, but they offer all that you could need. We were there as 2 adults with 2 (medium sized) dogs and at no point did we feel we were under each other's feet. With having dogs, I wouldn't normally book accommodation without a garden area but where this cottage is situated, that really wasn't a problem for us - we had the whole of St Fillans and the surrounding area to take the dogs out in! Please be aware that there was very little/no TV reception but we had our Apple TV box with us for when we did want to watch something. I have ticked that I would recommend this holiday rental to a friend, but I would really much prefer to keep this little find all to myself.
Owner's reply: Thanks very much for your kind comments and I am glad you enjoyed your holiday in my cottage. Unfortunately the TV reception isn't great so I have left some DVDs for entertainment. There is also unlimited internet if people want to stream programs or films. Thanks for recommending to others. Kind regards Ailsa
“The perfect getaway”
Craigdarroch was a very neat cottage with lots of charm. We really enjoyed our stay. If you like walking in hills and trees you could do no better.
The cottage is warm, clean and beyond description. Log fire is easy to use and everything is perfect and superb. Thanks!
Lovely cottage, very well thought out in terms of layout and felt very spacious and was spotlessly clean which must be a difficult job as muddy dogs are a challenge! Iggi found the treat on the dog bed within about 5 seconds of getting through the door, lovely touch along with bed and towel for her and food bowls.Log burning stove etc was great but then I have one at home so a big fan already and wouldn't rent a cottage without one. Lovely comfortable bed too. Cottage was tucked away up the lane yet in the centre of St Fillans though we deliberately went out of peak times so everywhere was very quiet. We did some lovely walks and had a day of decent snowfall which was great. Only sad thing was that the Tap Bar at the Drummond Hotel/soon to be Loch Earn brewery wasn't open yet so will definitely look forward to sampling that when we return! We ventured to the Achray House Hotel where I had visited 3 years earlier. New owner literally just taken over, somewhat chaotic dinner service which did not justify the price however lovely friendly staff and owner and would definitely give them the benefit of the doubt with regards to future visits once they have settled in!
“What a great place to stay”
Well laid out accommodation situated in some of the best scenic areas of Scotland. Ideally suited for hillwalking and Munro bagging. Hills on your doorstep. Local microbrewery about to open in the next few months and a local hostelry which made us very welcome. What more could you ask for?
