Location description from owner

The England region

The Isle of Wight is the UK's most popular holiday island and has one of the mildest climates in the country along with being one of the sunniest places in the UK.

The Isle of Wight is very small being diamond shaped and measuring just 16 miles by 23 miles. This adds to being a great holiday destination as everywhere is within easy travelling distance. The isle of Wight became a fashionable place to holiday in the Victorian era after Queen Victoria opened a summer home at Osborne House in East Cowes. The towns of Shanklin, Sandown and Ryde are the most popular tourism resorts on the island with the West Wight being more rural.

Over half of the Isle of Wight is designated an area of outstanding natural beauty with 60 miles of beaches including heritage coastline. For those who like walking and cycling you'll never be bored as the island boasts over 500 miles of well maintained clearly signposted routes and pathways. The Isle of Wight is home to the biggest annual walking festivals which occur in May and September each year.

For families the Isle of Wight is absolutely packed full of things to do and attractions to visit. The Needles is probably the most famous of all island destinations and here you can enjoy a chairlift ride that takes you from the clifftop down to the beach giving you a birds eye view of the stunning coloured sands that this area of Alum Bay is famous for as well as the 3 rocky stacks and lighthouse that you can get closer to on a short boat trip.
Blackgang Chine offers many surprises and goes down in history as being the first theme park in the world to open! It is also well known for it's Disappearing Village attraction.

Cowes in the North of the island is world renown for it's yachting and sailing events throughout the year.
There are many places of historical interest open to visitors including Queen Victoria's Osborne House, Carisbrooke Castle, Appuldurcombe House and many more.

Shanklin

Shanklin nestles in the South East of the Isle of Wight and has a wonderful mild climate with above average days of sunshine. Shanklin Villa is located just a few minutes walk away from Shanklin Beach and Esplanade. Along the Esplanade you can hire deckchairs, play crazy golf/putting let children work off energy with the indoor play areas and get some light refreshments from cafes and bars. There is a stunning Cliff Walk 2 minutes from your apartments that takes you to Sandown and offers some stunning views of the sea. For an easier walk you can go along the sandy beach or Esplanade.

A few minutes walk from the apartments takes you in to Shanklin Old Village with its traditional thatched cottages. Here you'll also find Shanklin Chine with it's deep gorge and waterfalls. Shanklin Town Centre is close by with it's high street shops and supermarkets.
Along the seafront you can access a variety of watersports

“Perfect comfort for a large group”

Reviewed 24 Jul 2016

I stayed here with 3 generations of my family (which - let's face it - can be trying). This apartment was perfect: a separate room for everyone who wanted one, all en suite; a spacious kitchen/sitting room; large patio outside, and - the piece de resistance - the apartment has its own hot tub. It's a short stroll to the beach (downhill on the way, a bit of a climb up), lots of pubs and restaurants within stumbling distance, a 10-15-minute walk from the station, 5 minutes to the shops and buses. We did the holiday without a car and it was easy as anything. The unanimous verdict was: we'd come back (and the kids didn't want to leave in the first place)!

“Old & New Friends get together - Excellent”

Fabulous accommodation, very spacious and perfectly situated. Lovely hot tub and view of the sea. Everything in the apartment was catered for, washing machine, dishwasher etc. You never felt as if you were on top of each other.

“Cannot fault”

Reviewed 4 Oct 2015

We have been staying at Shankin Villas for over three years, booking twice a year. On every single occasion the service, quality and cleanliness of the apartments (we have tried four different ones since May 2012) have been impossible to fault. We would not consider staying anywhere else now if an apartment at Shanklin Villas is available when we can come over. I honestly can't think of a single negative. All the apartments have been finished to a standard rather than a cost and the location is great too, being close to the Old Village. Looking forward to booking again soon for 2016.

“amzing find just perfect for "big girls" and "little girls break away"”

Reviewed 10 Apr 2015

this was in a perfect location an amazing property with a fab hot tub, we had a great time both at the apartment and in the surrounding area of Shanklin and Sandown, my son and his girlfriend rented another apartment too and we spent time together with them which was really lovely as they were on the same floor and us.thanks

“Very nice appartment with good accommodation”

Reviewed 9 Nov 2014

Open layout really good with sea views and private hot tub. Having 4 ensuites also useful. Although not really accessible access for partially disabled ok.

“Perfect weekend group retreat.”

Reviewed 18 Oct 2014

We arrived late and the instructions for keys was easy.we were amazed by the gorgeous apartment and the view.perfect for a hen weekend. We hired bikes delivered/collected to the door and cycled to sandown for lunch along the sea. Sat night short walk to a few bars and restuarants along sea and walked back up (a few steps from the sea) and into village (10mins) where turn right is shops and modern restuarants and bars but left is the beautiful old village pubs we had an fun night in old inn with guitarist playing what we requested! It's a lovely place but if you are expecting nightclubs I'm told Newport is the place to go! The apartment had plenty of space, all rooms with shower was fab and the hot tub was a real treat but it does turn off at 10 pm! Beds were comfy and all was spotlessly clean.

“an amazing place to stay. 5* all the way”

Reviewed 22 Sep 2014

From the booking process to the end of the holiday the provision was fantastic. The willingness to provide travel cots and highchairs was a great help. The apartment was so well equipped and the little extra of tea-towels , tabs for dishwasher and washing machine, just made us feel special. The quality of the rooms, beds , showers, baths etc was 5 star. The hot tub was a wonderful luxury which was thoroughly enjoyed by all. The owner meeting us and explaining everything really helped at the start of the holiday. loved it so much we are all talking about going back again and we have recommended it to so many people. Even when we left belongings behind they were kindly sent back to us.

“Best break on Isle of Wight”

Reviewed 22 Mar 2013

Have just stayed at Mountbatten garden apt. I found it through google and wanted apartment for 5 of us with a hot tub. The pictures on website are spot on. Carol who I dealt with as a last minute booking was just amazingly helpful and sorted us out so quickly within 2 days. When we arrived we were shown around this massive apartment which was spectacular the furnishings and flooring and towels were top class definetely 5 star, the kitchen was so huge and if you love cooking it is fab! Everything was there for us and the hot tub seats 5 comfortably and was used everyday just amazing and the view out to sea was superb. I would highly recommend this property as it is also central to Shanklin shops and beach the best accommodation and service I have used in UK. Will definetely return. the garden as well is large with a beautiful hut with slide for the kids and well maintained garden.

“excellent accommodation,”

Reviewed 20 Mar 2013

I have stayed here twice recently, first time with with mine and another family over the New year period, second time with a group of girls for birthday weekend. I've stayed in the Eversley and the Mountbatten garden apartment. Both the accommodations are finished to a very high standard and spacious. The apartments are a great base to explore the island, and are walking distance from the beach, shops, bars and restaurants. I would definitely recommend the apartments and am looking to book again soon.

“Fabulous Shanklin Villas - sea views, hot tub perfect getaway all year round”

Reviewed 19 Feb 2013

This is our second stay at Shanklin Villas and certainly won't be our last. We wanted to see what the Isle was like in the winter and it didn't disappoint. We love the location of the villas, a short walk to the old town and beach. The hot tub with sea views was a big hit with the kids and adults alike. The quality of the apartments is second to none...we feel very relaxed, there is plenty of room and each bedroom has a TV. Overall we would highly recommend the Shanklin Villa Apartments.
