Description from owner

Woodview Holiday Cottage, Owthorpe, Nottinghamshire, is a delightful stone property surrounded by beautiful gardens and stunning views. The cottage is nestled in the centre of a working arable farm, on the edge of the Vale of Belvoir, which offers trout and coarse fishing lakes onsite, set amongst a beautiful patchwork of fields and woodlands.

This charming single storey building has been skilfully converted from a traditional barn into a characteristic cosy english country holiday cottage complete with log burning stoves and oak beams.

Original features of the barn have been subtly blended with modern luxury to achieve an ambience that is both comfortable and inviting.

There is ample car parking next to the holiday cottages and the nearest shop is only three miles away. The accommodation is immaculate throughout and kept to very a high standard by the owners.

The cottage comprises a living/dining-room with wood-burning stove, exposed beam trusses and modern fitted kitchen area. There are two bedrooms with exposed stone work; one double and one twin accommodating up to 4 people (+ 1 cot if needed). Family bathroom/W.C. with shower cubicle.

The cottage makes a perfect retreat at any time of the year and is a great base to enjoy the changing seasons as well as a perfect getaway to enjoy the Christmas and New Year celebrations.

If you are a lover of fine food, you will be pleased to find yourself in the heart of a Stilton Cheese producing area and Melton Mowbray, famous for its pork pies, just 10 miles away.

Owthorpe itself lies on the edge of the picturesque Vale of Belvoir, a verdant landscape offering all manner of outdoor activities, and serving as a great base for visiting the attractions in the neighbouring three counties. You'll need a car to get around - within a short driving distance you will find a number of small villages with local pubs and shops.

West Bridgford is a lovely small town, just 20 minutes from the farm with many small terrace cafes, boutiques and eateries on hand. It also sits on one side of the River Trent along side which you can take a leisurely stroll. Sports lovers will be spoilt for choice with Trent Bridge Test Match Cricket Ground, Nottingham Forest Football Club and the National Watersports Centre all located in West Bridgford.

A few minutes over Trent Bridge towards Nottingham city you'll find Notts County Football Club (The oldest club in worldwide football association history) and the National Ice Arena which not only boasts public skating, professional ice hockey games, figure skating and speed skating events, but is also a 10,000 seat music and performance venue which hosts some of the biggest superstars on the planet. And of course Nottingham city centre itself is packed full with great shopping, restaurants, bars and clubs, arts and culture, theatres, history; not least of all some of the oldest pubs in England and of course the famed Nottingham Castle and Tales of Robin Hood.

Historic Newark-on-Trent is also a 30 minute drive away where you can enjoy the hustle and bustle of this quaint market town and the remains of Newark Castle.

Very Good

“Clean, comfortable and everything you need”

Reviewed 16 Oct 2018

Better than the pictures. Everything was lovely and I am fussy. The kitchen is well equipped the beds were comfy and very clean. Plenty of hot water, towels and the place is nice and warm. It was lovely to be comfortable in the evening as the sofa and armchair is not leather.there is Loads to do in the area too. All in all I would really recommend this lovely cottage. On top of that the scones with cream and jam were delicious
