Hopeman

A few minutes drive to the West of Hopeman is the village of Burghead once a Pictish Fort – or take a bit longer getting there by foot or cycle along the old railway line which runs along the edge of the coast where you will find St Athens Well as you near Burghead (take a cup with you to sample the spring water said to have healing powers).

This route is suitable for all ages and will accommodate a bicycle, pram or buggy and you will find lots of lovely spots to sit and relax. If you have children they will enjoy exploring the beach and rock pools and perhaps searching for Fossils or enjoy bird and dolphin spotting.

If you fancy woodland walking then visit Roseisle just to the West of Burghead – this has forest trails, a picnic area and toilets

A short traffic free drive to the East is the Town of Lossiemouth with shops restaurants and long sandy beaches and if you are into Aircraft spotting then RAF Lossiemouth (the only airbase in Scotland) has a purpose built viewing area. Another relaxed short drive to the South takes you into the City of Elgin where you will find a good selection of shops, restaurants, supermarkets, a cinema, bowling alley, swimming pool, museum, Cathedral and many other points of interest.

Your groceries can be ordered from either Tesco or Asda if you want to arrange a delivery. 17'Cooper Street IV30 5SB for deliveries.

There are regular buses from Hopeman to Elgin.
