Getting around

Birchcroft is in the country so a car is essential. However some of your group could arrive by train at Bournemouth Central Station about 6 miles away or by plane at Bournemouth International Airport - 3 miles away. Birchcroft is positioned near several main routes so access to the main areas of interest is easy. You can drive West to the Jurassic Coast with Corfe Castle and Poole Harbour, Brownsea Island, Monkey world, Bovington Tank Museum, etc. Drive North to New Forest, Salibury Plain and the Fleet Air Arm Museum at Yeovilton. South to the golden beaches of Bournemouth, Sandbanks and Hengistbury Head. East to Lymington, Beaulie Motor Museum, Marie Rose and Victory ships at Portsmouth. Really you need more than 1 week to see it all.

Interaction with guest

The full details of key codes, WiFi codes, etc will be sent direct to our guests within 2 weeks of their holiday. You can arrive anytime after 3pm on the first day of your holiday or we can arrange for you to leave suitcases, etc earlier in the day if that helps you. There are many lovely pubs in walking and short drive distance so you can easily arrive, early while we are still cleaning the property, leave your items and then go off to the pub for a relaxed lunch. During your stay you can easily contact us and we will be able to answer your questions. I live only 5 miles away so can pop over or my assistant is on call as well - our mobile numbers are on the noticeboard.

“Extremely helpful owner and assistant. Beautiful house”

Reviewed 20 Jun 2012

before our stay I spoke to Sonia on a number of occasions regarding my husband who is in a wheelchair. I can only say I have never had such good service regarding the information given for a disabled person. The house is lovely, the grounds and view are delightful. We saw a roe deer in the garden on 3 occasions and saw a number of birds, the most interesting being a pair of bullfinches that came nearly everyday and 2 sightings of a green woodpecker. Sonia visited when we were there and when she realised that the bed was a little low for my husband, she produced a set of bed raisers. Unfortunately we did not get good weather so were only able to use the patio on one occasion, but it is south facing so gets sun until quite late in the day. There is a barbecue provided. There are 3 pubs within half a mile of the property, we went to the Dudsbury Hotel, for a lunch and a dinner, once again because of the weather we were not able to sit outside, but there is a lovely deck and the pub is wheelchair friendly with adequate parking and plenty of space between tables. (need to let them know when you get there and they will put a ramp at the front door.

“Comfortable to All”

Reviewed 30 Apr 2012

This property was homely, relaxing and comfortable. acccessible for parents and with twin bedroom with ensuite they felt they they could manage the facilities provided

Owner's reply: Thank you. This couple brought their elderly parents with them and are referring to the fact that the parents found the downstairs twin en suite room and other equipment very good for their needs. We have a level M2 accessibility award [partial wheelchair user] from VisitBritain of which we are very proud.
