From the owner

Old Rose Cottage is a 4 stars AA rated grade II listed brick and flint holiday cottage in the pictoresque village of Turville (home to the TV serie The Vicar of Dibley) in the in the Hambleden Valley, the heart of Chiltern Hills.

Designated as an "Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty" the Hambleden Valley has some of the most spectacular and characteristic Chiltern scenery: high ridges, beech woods, sweeping dry chalk valleys, yet it is only 20 miles from Oxford and 25 miles from Heathrow.

This unspoilt, beautiful location offers a wide range of attractions: from the finest walking and cycling paths in the Chilterns to boat trips and picnics along the nearby river Thames, visits to grand stately homes and shopping in the pretty riverside market towns of Marlow and Henley.

Old Rose Cottage dates back to the 16th century and it has been sympathetically renovated to provide all comforts while preserving its character. It's open all year and provides self-catering accommodation for up to 4 people in two bedrooms (a double and a twin).

The cottage is arranged over two floors: two double bedrooms are upstairs (a double and a twin), while on ground floor you will find a lovely sitting room, a spacious kitchen/diner and a bathroom.

The bedrooms and stairway have original oak beams, the sitting room has a magnificent inglenook fireplace with log burner for cosy winter evenings in, as well as TV with freeview and DVD player.

There is a fully equipped oak cottage-style kitchen/dining room with dishwasher, washing machine, full size hob and oven, microwave, fridge freezer and abundance of crockery and pans.

A private garden and on street allocated parking for one car complete the property. The garden is detatched, a few meters away from front door - it is completely private and is eqipped with table, chairs and a BBQ

The property has wi-fi, free for our guests.

A few things to know:

- Most of our guests are families and we welcome children of all ages - if you need a high chair we can ensure one is left for you in the cottage (no charge, obviously), however, due to possible hazards (like wood burning stove or stairs) children below the age of 16 should not be left unsupervised in the cottage.

- Turville is a quiet peaceful place and we like it that way: the cottage is not suitable for events and/or parties, which are expressly forbidden, and we ask our guests to keep any noise to a minimum between the hours of 10 pm and 8 am.

- Turville, like the whole Hambleden valley, is not very technology-friendly: mobile phone reception is very poor in the village; we provide BT wi-fi internet connection, which usually works well.
