Elvet Bridge View is a peaceful and picturesque 5-star apartment awaits you on the banks of the River Wear next to Elvet Bridge in Durham City Centre. Stroll down to the river, explore the beautiful city, enjoying the abundance of attractions consisting of a variety of bars, pubs, restaurants and shops.

This luxury apartment is a newly converted historic building located in the heart of Durham City featuring French doors opening onto a large deck overlooking the river Wear and infamous Elvet Bridge. With so many local attractions dominating tourism, this DUPLEX apartment offers an atmosphere of serenity where you can even spend an afternoon curled up with a good book in the cosy lounge enjoying the view from the deck whilst you sip your tea (or perhaps wine) contemplating where to venture next. Durham City offers a wide range of activities for those who are looking to enrich their cultural knowledge or indulge in relaxation.

The ground floor has a fully secured door with a remote electronic lock. An internal hallway leads to a secure underground free car park with an allocated parking bay for cars and bikes, accessible via a lift or stairs. The main living area consists of a lounge and dining table complete with LCD TV and free WiFi (16mb) internet access. The kitchen is fully equipped with integral appliances including a washer / drier and waste disposal unit. The ground floor has a toilet and wooded floors throughout.

“Luxury apartment in centre of Durham”

This apartment is in an ideal location to visit Durham, its a five minute walk to the city centre. There was a nice selection of eating and drinking places near by. Parking was excellent as it was in a secured garage under the building. We met Chris the owner to let us in and he was very friendly and showed us everything we needed to know about the apartment. It was even better than the photos very well furnished etc there was everything you needed in the kitchen if you wanted to self cater but we ate out during our stay. Nice little touches like a welcome basket (wine, crisps, biscuits etc), milk & orange in the fridge also tea, coffee & sugar there too. Lovely toiletries in the bathrooms and robes etc. There is decking outside on the balcony and chairs & table to sit out and watch the boats go by. We would definitely recommend this apartment

Apartment is exceptional. Location is superb for accessing Durham and surrounding area. Chris was totally thorough, helpful and extremely welcoming. We would have no hesitation in returning.

“Great place, great location”

The apartment was in excellent order, very comfortable and in a fine location for the city centre. Being right by the river was a bonus, as was the underground car park. We were late arriving but a very patient Chris showed us round and explained everything in good detail. The only problem for me was accessibility: I am disabled and the internal staircase is of a poor design for anyone with mobility problems like mine. I hasten to add that was not the owners' fault. Perhaps some thought could be given to adding an extra stair rail where the present arrangement curves.

“Exceptional riverside apartment in convenient location.”

After a 6 hour drive this is exactly the kind of dream accommodation you want to arrive at. Greeted by the lovely owner, we were shown our allocated parking space and given a tour of the property. I was immediately struck by the beautiful décor and furnishings. So many thoughtful extras too from toiletries to milk, juice and wine! Cupboard essentials and a basket of snacks too. The kitchen (and rest of property) was spotlessly clean and very well equipped. This was comfort at the highest level with double doors opening to table and chairs by the riverside. Within the hour I was sitting in the evening sun, sipping wine and watching the rowers glide by - what more could you want? If you decide to venture out, Durham's many shops, cafes and restaurants are a few minutes walk away, easy routes in and out of the city too. Would love to return one day.

“Outstanding apartment”

We are from Switzerland and we didn't wanted to stay in a hotel room. We travelled with our two adult girls and stayed five nights. Chris waited for us in the apartment and it was a warm welcome. Showed us the apartment shortly and everything is well organised. We felt home from the first second. The apartment is just beautiful, outstanding and perfect. Real 5star. Not one thing was missed. The view on the river is fantastic. You go out, walk over the bridge and you are in the old part of Durham. The apartment was the perfect choice for Durham. We will be back in this apartment.

“An exceptional apartment”

The apartment looked wonderful on the website but in reality it was even better! Beautifully decorated and equipped, in immaculate condition and in a perfect location. The view of the river from the light, bright living room was lovely and peaceful (and we saw long-tailed tits playing in the trees!) and the short walk to the attractive city centre was very pleasant. If you like Lebanese food head to the Lebaneat - a vibrant restaurant with such excellent food we went on both nights of our stay! As well as visiting the beautiful cathedral we went for walks along the river - the apartment was ideally located for both. And the generous welcome pack added to the luxury of the experience. We definitely hope to return. Thank you Wendy and Chris.

“Fabulous apartment in central Durham”

This is a 5 star apartment very conveniently situated for the town centre. The property looks fantastic from the photos but it still managed to exceed expectations. The kitchen is well equipped and we were given a super welcome pack. The attention to detail here is excellent. The owner was very personable, being on hand to answer any queries and providing an excellent handover on arrival. We will definitely be back.

This apartment is immaculate. Fully equipped with everything you could possibly need. Hosts Chris and Wendy welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Situated beautifully directly on the riverbank with balcony overlooking the river. Only a couple of minutes walk and you in the city centre. Thoroughly recommended.

“Best holiday apartment we have ever experienced.”

We have stayed in many short let apartments around England and this was the best ever. Chris, the host, met us at the station and ensured that we were comfortably settled; subsequently, when the DVD broke down, he was there almost immediately with a replacement - he did everything to make us feel at home and welcome. The apartment is ideally situated, just across the bridge from the centre of Durham, with a lovely view of the river - though it was too cold to use the patio it was a pleasure having breakfast and looking out at the rowers training. The decor was lovely - furniture comfortable and in excellent condition, everything tastefully chosen. The beds deserve particular mention: lots of goose feather/down pillows and fluffy duvets. There were much appreciated touches such as a welcome basket of biscuits and wine, milk, coffee, tea etc so that we didn't have to go straight to the supermarket, and good quality toiletries. Everything you could possible need was supplied. We had an excellent week at Elvet Bridge View - it felt like living 'at home', not in a rented apartment.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.
