Welcome to Screel Lodge – a wonderful place for a relaxing break, with an elevated outdoor decking area overlooking the garden and beyond to the adjacent golf course and beautiful countryside. It is a lovely to visit all year round, offering lots of outdoor space and a cosy interior when the weather is less good .

Accommodation – spacious modern living /dining /kitchen area with wooden floor and patio doors leading to 2 areas of decking. Patio table and chairs. Two double bedrooms, 1 twin bedroom. Bathroom has a shower over bath and toilet. One separate toilet. Utility room with washing machine and tumble drier.

Parking for 2 cars. Lawned garden area. BBQ for use in the garden area .

Central heating, electricity and bed linen included.

Non-smoking. Dogs welcome (up to two) if well behaved.They will love the walks.

Screel Lodge is one of the ten Barnhourie lodges, nestled away from traffic, sitting next to an 18-hole golf course. There is lots of opportunity to enjoy peace and quiet inside and out, and local wildlife including red squirrels, badgers, deer and red kites are on the doorstep.This brings many visitors back year after year!

A short stroll down the path across the golf course takes you towards Sandyhills beach and the coast, with miles of magnificent long sandy beaches and views across to the Lake District.

The area has lots of quiet picturesque villages including nearby Kippford and Rockcliffe to visit. There is unlimited beautiful coastline to explore either on foot or bike. There are many local attractions nearby well worth a visit including Threave Gardens and Threave Castle. For children, a trip to Mabie Farm Park or the Cream’o Galloway Visitor Centre are always popular. Castle Douglas and Kirkcudbright towns have lots of interesting small shops, art galleries and abundant coffee shops and are well worth a visit.

If you are feeling more energetic, there are mountain bike trails and lots of golf courses nearby that welcome visitors.

Whether you are seeking a break away from it all, or a holiday with activities, Screel Lodge Is a perfect location to stay. There are nearby shops (2 miles), pub with food (1 mile) and local supermarkets will deliver to your door.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Christine (the owner) a message.

If Christine (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
