Description

Trimnells offers guests the chance to enjoy village life in a designated area of outstanding natural beauty. They can walk to country pubs in a friendly unspoiled village just off the tourist track where visitors of all kinds are welcomed including many overseas visitors who have described Colerne as "a bit of old England". Local facilities include golf, clay pigeon shooting, quad bikes, go karts etc. There is also a play area within the village.Guests who have enjoyed Trimnells House and gardens the most have been families and other groups who seem to enjoy the peaceful walled gardens where children can play while adults can eat and drink. Another group has been Londoners, who seem to enjoy the contrast and leave with batteries recharged. The two local pubs both offer food and one can offer outside catering. The local Michelin starred Lucknam Park Hotel offers more upmarket dining opportunities and is popular with celebrities, as is Bath. Trimnells offers large rooms (~20-30

Trimnells offers large rooms (~20-30 sq mtrs) with en suites. Large off street car park. A quiet, safe location away from main roads but not far from major airports and the M4. Bath is a 20-30 minute drive to the center. We offer disabled facilities including a ground floor bedroom with level access shower. There is also a stair-lift to the first floor. Which might also be useful for those who have been to the pub. The accommodation is on the ground and first floor. The side annex and top floor are separate from the rest of the house. Additionally, our guests can use the Bath Rewards Card which entitles them to a range of discounts within Bath including the Therma Spa and Roman Baths. Film buffs and families who want to keep children entertained may want to visit nearby Castle Combe where scenes from Stardust, the first Dr Dollitle and Warhorse were filmed, and Lacock where scenes from Harry Potter and numerous costume dramas were filmed. William Fox Talbot did some early pioneering work on photography in Lacock Abbey and there is a Museum of photography in Lacock. The village and Abbey are owned by the National Trust and preserved for posterity.

Location description from owner

The England region

The region is best known for the City of Bath including its architechture, and the many buildings erected using the famous honey coloured bath stone. The Roman Baths have attracted many visitors over the years. Further afield areas of interested that can be driven to include Stonehenge, Avebury, Wales, Cheddar and Glastonbury.

Colerne

Trimnells House is located in the village of Colerne. Whilst the delights of Bath are close at hand, the village itself offers many local amenities including a post office, hairdressers, newsagent, florist, grocery store and two traditional village pubs providing meals and refreshments, all reached within a five minute walk from the house. A short drive away, the picturesque villages of Castle Combe and Lacock and the local towns of Bradford-On-Avon and Corsham can be of great interest and provide many and varied dining opportunities.

Lacock is a village bequeathed to the National Trust and used for scenes in Cranford and the Harry Potter movies as well as being the site of Lacock Abbey and Museum where Henry Fox Talbot did pioneering work on photography.

Getting around

I recommend seeing Bath, Castle Combe and Lacock. Further afield you have Bristol, Stonehenge, Longleat, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury and many others but it all depends on how much time you have.

Interaction with guest

The holiday let part of the property is on the ground and first floors of the main house. The side annex and top floor are private. The latter is reached by a physically separate internal staircase with a side entrance. Your host will be on the top floor and available if any problem arises. This does not mean you can't make any noise! On the contrary, you are there to enjoy yourselves and if you want quiet there wont be noise from elsewhere. There are many things to do in the area. See our website for a list.
