Step out of the rat race and discover the tranquillity of wild beautiful spaces - Church Stretton is a haven for hill walking, mountain biking and horse riding. The Long Mynd rises above the west of the town is well-known for gliding, hang gliding and boasts the second highest golf course in England.

But if you are looking for something a little more relaxing, there are woodland walks, a wealth of history and heritage together with hidden gems off the well-trodden tourist track. Church Stretton is the only town in the Shropshire Hills Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and is ideally situated for discovering the delights of the historic towns of Shrewsbury, Ironbridge, Much Wenlock and the renowned food mecca of Ludlow.

Church Stretton

Arden House is only a short level walk from the centre of Church Stretton, which has some wonderful restaurants and bistros featuring, European, Thai and India cuisine. The quaint cafes are great for afternoon tea and we have a fantastic award winning deli. The town is surrounded by the most outstanding selection of country pubs offering everything from fine dining to gastro pub grub.

The renowned Carding Mill Valley and the Long Mynd, owned and looked after by the National Trust, is outside our front gate – offering woodlands walks, challenging hill climbs or gentle rambles with a country pub lunch along the way – Church Stretton is one of those destinations that once discovered, people return to time and time again.

“A little something special”

Reviewed 4 Jul 2016

From the moment we booked, Ian made our trip special. Extra information about the town, a phone call to see if we needed anything else, he even organised some birthday sparkle in the apartment. Arden House was a treat and a delight and we'll definitely be going back.

Owner's reply: Thank you very much for your comments it is appreciated. Also very nice to hear you say our help supported your break and birthday celebrations. It was not a problem at all. Ian & Julie
