If you need to come up to the farmhouse for assistance please knock and stand back 2 metres so that we can respond. We will not enter your cottage unless there is an emergency but it also means that if there is a minor problem you may have to vacate the property while we attempt to solve it or wait for an engineer to call.

“Lovely”

Reviewed 18 Jul 2020

We stayed at Beech Cottage for four nights and enjoyed days out to Ilam and Dove Dale stepping stones, Matlock Bath, Carsington Water and The Roaches. It was lovely to return each evening after scenic walks but with tired feet to the comfort and quiet of Beech Cottage, super clean and well equipped. Hosts Beth and Glyn could not be more friendly and helpful. A lovely comfortable cottage with allocated off road parking in front and views over the fields, we didn’t want to leave.

We stayed at Beech Cottage in February. The cottage is very well equipped and the owner was very helpful and friendly. I would definitely recommend this cottage to others.

Owner's reply: Thanks for the review Fiona. I'm glad you liked the cottage but wish you'd told us about the flies and the hot water during your stay so we could have done something about it! There is usually a can of fly spray in the cupboard (along with a fly swap if you want to make a game of it!). Never had a problem with the hot water before but we could so easily have fixed it! We think someone had turned the boiler down. Nevertheless I hope we see you again sometime and maybe you'll get to stay an extra night. Beth and Glyn

“A perfect stay”

Reviewed 17 Apr 2018

You could not fault this accommodation in anyway ,a very warm welcome by the host who showed us round ,and came to our rescue when we left the keys at our sons house in Longton and supplied us with a spare set so we didn’t have to go back in the snowy blizzard. We will definitely book again - perhaps this time when the weather is a little kinder. Please follow the route which Beth gives you as the other direction which my sat nav took us was a little hair raising to say the least ; especially with the weather we had. ( we came from London.)

Owner's reply: Thank you Kath. It was lovely meeting you all even if the weather wasn't kind! At least the cottage was warm and dry and it was a stay to remember. Look forward to meeting you both again. Beth

“the best little cottage in britain”

Reviewed 17 Nov 2016

this is the 3rd time we have stayed as this cottage and it is truly fantastic looking onto open farmland, underfloor heating spotlessly clean it has to be visited to be believed.it is ideal if you want to tour Staffordshire and surrounding areas there is lot of info in the cottage a wonderful book on walks. the owner and husband Beth and Glyn are 2 of the friendliest people you could hope to meet they seem to know the area very well and go out of there way to help. When you arrive you find that Beth leaves bread in the bread bin and milk eggs in the fridge like I said this was my 3rd visit but it will not be my last, the best cottage we have stopped at and we have stopped at quite a few around the UK

Owner's reply: Thank you George. We love it when guests enjoy their stay enough to come back again. We start to think of them as friends. Hope all goes well next month and best wishes to your wife. Beth

We had a very relaxing stay in this beautiful cottage in a peaceful setting with lovely views. Just what we needed! We were given a very friendly welcome from Beth on our arrival, she showed us around and told us all we needed to know about the cottage. The eggs, bread and milk were an unexpected bonus! We were sorry to leave but hope to be back! The Royal Oak at Dilhorne serves good basic pub food at great prices. Good beer too!

Owner's reply: Thank you Dave and Pamela. So glad you enjoyed your stay (and the food at the Oak!) Would love to see you again some day. All the best Beth
