Within 4 miles there are several other very good eating establishments.

“What a fabulous place”

Reviewed 10 Oct 2016

Just spent family weekend with 8 of us at Great Coombe. Fabulous place with amazing views.. Everything you could think of in the cottage with lovely bedding and towels and the furnishing throughout were lovely and homely. The whole place was spotlessly clean. Kitchen although small was very well equipped and a vase of fresh flowers in the table was a lovely touch. We were all going to a wedding on the Saturday near Sherbourne so it was well located and although we spent time at Lulworth on the Sunday we all felt more like staying in and just enjoying the cottage. Cannot find any fault and would highly recommend a stay here especially if a large group. The huge living room with fabulous views is a pleasure to be in and the log burner a bonus. Wishes we had stayed longer and would definitely go back.

“Superb cottage with all needs catered for in a great location.”

My family stayed at the cottage for my birthday. The decoration and upkeep is excellent. Lots of places to eat in nearby villages. Great location. Would recommend it highly.

“Comfortable, warm, cosy, very well equipped and with fantastic countryside views.”

Great Coombe is a fantastic property which I would book again without a shadow of a doubt! Arranging the holiday itself was easy with Andy and Nicola responding to our emails almost instantly even, at one point, when they were on holiday themselves! The house had everything we needed and more. It was warm and cosy and the logburner was such a treat when we came in from a cold dog walk! We have stayed in a few holiday cottages over the years but Great Coombe had by far the best ground floor accommodation for disabled guests - plenty of space in the bedroom for our grand-daughter, her parents and her wheelchair and the wet-room was even bigger than it looks on the website virtual tour! Although we were out and about most days we returned to the house to eat in the evening and had no difficulty preparing dinners for all of us using the well-equipped kitchen although a little more worktop/food preparation space would have been nice!. We were quite a big party but there was enough lovely comfy sofas for all of us in the sitting room and plenty of games in the cupboard if you don't take your own. The games room was a hit with the male members of our group who ranged in age from 12 to 77 although the females also made use of the free Wi-Fi which could be accessed there. We had a couple of very windy and wet days whilst we were staying at Great Coombe but that is the risk in taking a holiday in the middle of winter! However we visited Dorchester and Weymouth and whilst two of the family took on a ten mile hike around Lulworth, the rest of us walked along the lanes from the cottage, taking in the views over the countryside. We enjoyed the house and the games room but I would think that, in the summer, Bookham Court comes into its own with its wildlife hide and lake. A fab family holiday and certainly a cottage which we would like to return to.
