Description

A one-bedroom elegant contemporary apartment in an historic granary overlooking the Tweed Estuary. The property was recently awarded the TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence 2018, a five star award based on the experiences of guests in the last year.

Four Mill Wharf is on the first floor of this award winning conversion, provides excellent accommodation for couples, and is easily accessible by lift or stairs.

New for 2019. We have reconfigured the bedroom to make space for a European double size bed with luxurious memory foam topper for added comfort for our guests.

The open plan living space has amazing views across the fascinating harbour and estuary towards the historic walled town of Berwick upon Tweed, and to the sea beyond. It offers the opportunity to spot the famous Berwick swans, grey seals, and dolphins.

The apartment is located on the South side of the river. A short and picturesque walk across the arched 17th century old stone bridge takes you to the wide array of restaurants, shops, tea rooms, pubs, and a cinema/theatre in Berwick town.

Only four miles from the Scottish Borders, Four Mill Wharf makes an ideal base to explore this coastal and river location, with excellent beach and town walks close by. Further afield is the beautiful Northumberland coast with its castles and wide beaches of this magnificent heritage coastline, including the tidal island of Lindisfarne. To the West is the wild, lonely beauty of the Cheviot Hills and the Northumberland National Park. To the North are the Lammermuir Hills, and the quaint harbours of St. Abbs and Eyemouth.

Only one mile from Berwick train station with excellent links to Edinburgh and Newcastle for days out in the city.

Getting around

Berwick is ideally situated for train links to London, Edinburgh and Newcastle via the mainline routes. There are regular bus services to surrounding towns and several scenic coastal bus services from Berwick to Newcastle. Berwick town is easily accessible on foot from the apartment and the stroll to town gives lovely views over the river and out to sea. There is free parking available in Berwick. If you just want to potter around Berwick and enjoy some local walks you can probably abandon your car during the holiday. If you bring your car you will find most of the roads are comparatively quiet and you will enjoy many beautiful views as you drive around Northumberland

Interaction with guest

We do not live on site. The granary conversion is a multi occupancy building and as we cannot leave keys for collection we will welcome you personally at the beginning of your stay. After that we are hands- off unless you need our assistance. We will ask you for an estimated time of arrival so we can greet you. We try to be flexible on entry and leaving times. If we have been able to complete the changeover early we will text you to let you know before the 3pm arrival time. If we have no guests arriving on the day of your departure we can be flexible on the 10am leaving time. Guests leave the keys in the post box on departure. We can suggest things to do, restaurants, and hidden gems in the area.

“A great property in an excellent location”

A well appointed apartment in a great location . An easy walk in to Berwick and also easy to get to Spittal beach . Great views from the apartment

Owner's reply: Yes we love the views, especially when the dock is very still and the boats and buildings are reflected in the water. There were lovely views on Saturday when we serviced the apartment, with blue seas and white waves gently hitting the walls and lapping round the end of the pier. “Excellent Apartment”

Had a really enjoyable stay at the apartment which has everything you might need. Location was great with some nice walks close by. The welcome pack, and home baked cake, and wine were a really nice touch. Have recommended the apartment to family members, and hope to return in the not too distant future. Owners easy to deal with, and were happy to answer any questions. Thanks very much to Keith & Louise.

“Fab apartment with amazing views.”

Had an amazing stay at this lovely apartment. Keith the owner picked me up from the station and there was a lovely welcome for me with fresh flowers and a freshly baked cake by Louise. The apartment was in an excellent location with only a 10 minute walk into the town walking over the old bridge which had scenic views over the river Tweed. The apartment was well equipped with everything you could need for a really comfortable stay and the views from the arched windows were amazing. This is a perfect apartment for a couple, there was even a lift so would even be suitable for anyone who had difficulty with stairs. I would highly recommend this apartment for anyone visiting Berwick and the surrounding area.

The views are special and at this time of year we often get very still water in the dock which throws lovely reflections of the boats, town and walls in to the water. Very well kept comfortable apartment within an interesting building and setting, well equipped with everything we needed for a perfect stay. Views were brilliant, loved watching the swans and seals in the bay. Easy access to Berwick town with a short walk over the bridge. Several fine eating places within walking distance. Beautiful coastline and attractive villages within easy reach. Certainly would like to revisit in the future.

“peaceful,tranquil,super clean,simply the best”

Probably 1 of the best apartments we have stayed in and super clean amazing views from the comfort of the lounge you can watch seals,swans (at least 15) and the evening entertainment a goodnight from the seagulls watching them in the dark settling on the dock you would think it was snowing to top it all amazing owners and amazing neighbours it has a little piece of Magic. Hen we arrived Louise showed us around the apartment which was very clean, home from home comforts everything was there that we needed, there was flowers, wine and cake to welcome us. The views overlooking the harbour are fantastic with seals and swans on the water, a great base for Scotland we went to Leith to see the royal ship Brittany's which is well worth seeing and we went to Edinburgh Castle for the day. I would recommend this apartment to anyone Thank you Louise and Keith

How do damage deposits work?
