“Cosy, comfortable cottage in pretty and peaceful surroundings - ideal holiday home”

Reviewed 18 Sep 2016

Felt "at home" the moment we walked into the cottage!. Loved the cosy lounge with opportunity for nightly log fires and playing on the piano was a wonderful recreational activity and for me a nostalgic past time. The kitchen is light and spacious - with a family table to sit and eat meals while looking out through the French doors at the beautiful garden. the whole village is peaceful and full of pretty cottages and there is a woodland walk by a lovely clear flowing stream, just up the road from the cottage. The cottage gives the opportunity for a wonderful retreat from busy life and time out to just chill and enjoy the wonderful surroundings.

“Everything you could ever want.”

Swallow Cottage is situated in Bere Regis just 2 mins from the A31 and A35 - the arteries of the county and SW. Perfect for exploring Dorset and its coast. Andy and Anna communicated everything we needed and answered any questions immediately and without fuss. The cottage itself has all the charm that you would expect under thatch with cosy sofas in front of the fire and clean and comfortable beds upstairs. The gem for me was the spacious modern kitchen where I could cook and yet have my wife or daughter sitting in for a chat. The private and spacious garden was not utilised to its full as it was Dec but the sun shining through the french doors in the morning was fantastic. Perfect for a morning pot of tea. The fast wifi was a bonus and great for checking traffic and locations. There was plenty of hot water and the shower was excellent and the house was never cold - even for my wife! I am quite fussy when it comes to value, service and quality but I will not hesitate to book again if I am back in the county. I will recommend this to my friends and to strangers alike. Simply superb.

“Ideally situated for a relaxing break”

From our initial enquiry to the day we arrived, the service was excellent and informative. Swallows is a blend of modern conveniences and Olde Worlde charm. For families with children this holiday is a perfect choice.

“Beautiful thatched cottage, ideal for couples and families, dont miss it!”

Amazing three day stay. Most cottages we have stayed in are lovely but a bit dark. This one is light and airy with fab big and well equipped kitchen. There were games etc for Our children 8 and 11 years but there is everything for toddlers too. Under floor heating in bathrooms, fab cosy fire in huge fireplace. BeautIful location, kids could ride their bikes along the cul de sac, they also loved the summer house, playing in nearby river and playing football in the garden. Two nice pubs in easy walking distance. Fab walks behind Swallows cottage. We also liked Lulworth cove and hiked to fossil forest (not actually a live forest but huge fossil remains, nestled into the cliff). I loved the challenging cycle out of the village.....Visited Kimmeridge and found some fab ammonite fossils....also less successful fossil hunting at Charmouth and Lyme regis but both are charming. Of course we couldn't leave before visiting the so traditional seaside towwn of swanage- fish and chips on the quayside. Durlston Head is a challenging walk but lovely cafe/gallery to see. Have a great trip.

“A lovely cottage in a perfect location”

Me, my wife and our 4 year old son spent a lovely week at this cottage during the Easter holidays. The cottage is lovely, spacious and full of character with a large garden at the back. It is down a quiet road next to a huge field so is really quiet. The location is perfect for plotting day trips - you can go east to Poole, SE to Swanage, South to Lulworth and West to Dorchester/Weymouth extremely easily and quickly (approx. 20-25 mins). You can also go for some lovely walks in the fields and woods nearby and play pooh sticks just 1 minute from the front door. Our son loved it and it was just the perfect place to start and end each day of our holiday. Would totally recommend it.

Gorgeous, well equipped cottage at the end of a lane. Plenty to do if you were there for longer but sadly we only had 2 nights. Shame the weather wasn't kinder over the Easter weekend as would have liked to sit in the garden

“Cosy cottage in lovely Dorset location”

Lovely short stay at Swallow Cottage with our toddler. House perfect for our needs and appreciated the travel cot and stair gate. Lots to see and do nearby, enjoyed the Tank Museum, Sea Life Weymouth and Peppa Pig World and the child loved running around the garden. House was clean and had all we needed and very helpful owners.

“Perfect for us”

Beautifully equipped and extremely comfortable with all the home comforts. The evenings were cold enough to light the fire. We hope to return soon hopefully next time we will be able to make use of the lovely garden

“Olde-worlde cottage with modern amenities”

Reviewed 17 Feb 2014

This cottage is great. Set in a peaceful location, it is ideally located to explore the South coast. Whilst the cottage retains its old fashioned charm with thatched roof and authentic log fire it does have a modern kitchen and bathroom. The whole cottage was clean and tidy. I really can't say more it's a gem of a find!

“A comfortable cottage in a great location”

Reviewed 20 Sep 2013

The cottage has great charm and is very comfortable with everything you need for self-catering. The bathroom is downstairs which may not suit some people. The location is great and we visited the Isle of Purbeck, Bridport and West Bay, Weymouth and Portland during our short stay. We wish it had been longer! A really brilliant base in Dorset from which to visit lots of very beautiful places.
