“Ideal for all”

Reviewed 16 Sep 2015

When i first found this house to stay in for my 21st birthday, it was perfect. The location was ideal and it was big enough for all 10 of us! Everyone loved the pictures before we'd even set foot through the door. When we arrived we loved it even more. It's got a large living and dining area, spacious kitchen which leads into a beautiful conservatory and garden! All the rooms were a decent size and we all still got a good nights sleep, eventually, as there are 2 perfectly placed pubs nearby. (one exactly opposite and one just a few metres up the road). It is in walking distance to Alton Towers, which was our main destination for the weekend, although if you have got kids who aren't good with walking (there is no footpath) please do book a taxi or catch the bus just down the road from the property. When we had spare time, we made use of the selection of videos/dvd's and the board games there (not all have the pieces in them so we did have to make our own counters up) All in all we had a fantastic weekend away and everyone i went with had never been before and we'd all love to come back.. we even discussed buying it!! Many thanks again to Gabbi and Chris, your home is beautiful and i'm glad you were on hand to answer my many questions!!!

“Charming, quirky, family friendly residence in lovely village setting.”

A house full of character and charm which enabled us as a family of 6 adults and 4 little ones under 4 years of age to spend fun time together all under one roof. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay taking in a day at CBeebies at Alton Towers which was just round the corner. Everything we could possibly want was in the house ,musical instruments, library and the children's toys were an added bonus and the pub across the road was super as well.

“Great location - shame the house was slightly grimy”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2015

This is an interesting and characterful house in a great location for visiting Alton Towers and the beautiful sights of the Peak District. The house easily accommodated our two-family party for a week - plus a third family for two nights - and was incredibly well stocked with toys for the younger members. There's also a child-friendly pub across the road serving great food. Rating stars deducted only for the slightly grimy and tired feel to the house and furnishings overall - especially for the rental price.

“Unique Family Accommodation”

Reviewed 12 Aug 2015

Excellent location just 1 mile from Alton Towers and close to other attractions. Pretty little village with excellent pubs serving first rate food. Easy to order fast food for delivery and close to late opening convenience shop where the pasties are recommended. The accommodation was big enough to sleep 8 adults and 4 children. The garden was pretty and secure for the children and included a sandpit with toys. The house contained a variety of games, books, videos, colouring books, pencils and lovely old fashioned toys for the children to play with. There is a library with a piano which was fun. Would definitely go back.

“Excellent house for visit to Alton with large group”

Reviewed 5 Jun 2014

Great locationf for Alton Towers. Plenty of room and toys in house for our 3 families of 2 adults and 2 young children. Great pub across the road, great food. They allowed us to carry the food on plates over to the house so us Adults could enjoy nice evening meal all together once children in bed. Had chinese delivery on second night which pub recommended. Loved the open fire, and kitchen was very well equipped! The accommodation offered everything we needed for our families to get together and enjoy each others company. Would definately stay again :-)

“Great location for a weekend break near Alton Towers”

Reviewed 11 May 2013

Good service from the owner. Quick response to booking enquiry, timely receipt of house details and very helpful during our stay. We had a problem with the heating on arrival and the owner was quick to respond by text and phone which meant the problem was sorted within an hour. Property was well suited to a large party of 10 people. 5 decent sized bedrooms over 2 floors. Although none of the bedrooms had an en-suites, this was not a problem as there was a bathroom on each floor. House was well equipped and we liked the unusual character of the place. Location in the village of Alton was great. Good local pub across the road and Alton Towers is within walking distance (30 m inutes). Only draw back was that, even with the heating working, the house was a bit cold for our stay in April.

“Great spot for a gathering of friends”

Reviewed 24 Mar 2013

Spatious accommodation at a very competitive price in a lovely village location. The owners were very helpful and friendly, as were the villagers. We were there during a cold spell in winter, and had to get additional firewood - this can be obtained either from the village store or post office. There is no off-street parking, but this was not really a problem for us. There are two decent-looking pubs very close to hand. We'd like to come back in the summer.

“Perfect for a weekend getaway”

Stayed here with a group of friends for my birthday. Lovely big property with plenty of character, great value and location.

“Very good for accomodating large number in large property”

Reviewed 30 Aug 2012

Overall I found this property to be very good for a short stay in the locale of Alton Towers. The property was extensive with plenty of room for kids to play without getting on top of each other. The dining room and living rooms were large and comfortable with the kitchen well stocked. A few problems with kitchen appliances but these were sorted during the time of visit, which is a plus point. Plenty of games, jigsaws and books available which was a massive bonus to keep kids occupied. Lots of nice pieces of classic and quirky furniture all contributing to make it comfortable and a relaxing place for a break. Excellent pub across the road with very good food. Another couple within a few minutes’ walk. Some nice walks in the village too. A lot of effort has gone into making the place welcoming which was appreciated.

It was everything the owner said it would be and more, the house is beautiful with big open fire and and amazing looking dinning table!the house seemed to go on forever with enough room to sleep 12 in beds, there was a lovely pub across the road serving food and another pub a few doors up with a lovely beer garden! All in all it was a wonderful break and we will defantly be back
