This stone-built terraced cottage is located near to the village of Allenheads near to Allendale in the North Pennines and can sleep four people in two bedrooms.Englewood Cottage is a stone-built terraced cottage dating back to 1854 just outside the village of Allenheads near to Allendale in the heart of the North Pennines. With one double bedroom, one twin and a family bathroom, this cottage can sleep four people. Please note that the ceiling over the bath is sloped and while there is a shower hose for added convenience, this regrettably cannot be used at full standing height. The rest of the accommodation is made up of a kitchen/diner and a sitting room with an inglenook fireplace and a multi-fuel stove. To the outside of the cottage is a riverside garden with outdoor furniture. The garden is accessible to the rear of the property, where there is a small shared pathway for residents running between the property and the private garden. Surrounded by spectacular moorland, Englewood Cottage is a fabulous cottage for guests who want to get away from it all.

Amenities: Electric storage heaters with multi-fuel stove. Electric cooker, microwave, under counter fridge, with freezer compartment, washing machine. WI-FI. TV with FreeSat, DVD and small election of family friendly DVDs. Electricity and starter pack for multi-fuel stove inc. in rent. Bed Linen and Towels inc. in rent. Pleasant riverside garden with garden furniture. The garden is accessible to the rear of the property, where there is a small shared pathway for residents running between the property and the private garden. Parking on quiet road. Two well-behaved dogs welcome. Sorry, no smoking. Supermarket 7 miles, pub and cafe 1 mile. Please note that the ceiling over the bath is sloped and while there is a shower hose for added convenience eg hairwashing, this shower hose regrettably cannot be used at full standing height.

Region: Northumberland is a heady combination of fishing villages, market towns, sandy beaches, magnificent castles and historic Hadrian's Wall, tied together by beautiful countryside and abundant wildlife.

Town: Situated in the heart of the North Pennines, in beautiful Allendale, the village of Allenheads is reputed to be the highest village in England and stands over one thousand, four hundred feet above sea level. Once an important lead-mining area the village now hosts an interesting display of former life in the settlement in the Allenheads Heritage Centre. Surrounded by beautiful heather-clad moorland, the area is well known amongst walkers, nature lovers and bird watchers. In addition to the town's own heritage centre, the Beamish Open Air Museum is nearby â showing a recreation of a mining community. Other attractions within easy driving distance include the fascinating city of Durham, Hadrian's Wall and the attractive market towns of Allendale, Alston and Hexham. With so much to see and do, one visit isn't likely to be enough!

Worth a stay
Aug 2017

Lovely cosy cottage in a beautiful setting. Well equipped kitchen. Warned to take bedding, which is slightly inconvenient, king sized duvet as informed would have been nice though.
