“Lovely house in an ideal location” Five of us, including my 87-year-old mother, stayed here. It was roomy, clean, well-equipped and very comfortable. Bob and Philippa were helpful and attentive. The garden would be very pleasant in the summertime, with outdoor table and chairs with a view of the cathedral. A short walk takes you to the cathedral, shops, market, restaurants. Walking the same distance in the other direction, you will find a small convenience store. The railroad station is farther-- about 15 minutes walk-- so it might be best to take a taxi if you have bags. The Old Fire Engine House is a great place for lunch or tea.
Ely itself is a good location for exploring East Anglia. We drove to Peterborough, Huntingdon, Polebrook, Saffron Walden and Wisbech, and we explored many small roads and villages. Ely has an excellent bookstore, Toppings, which sponsors author talks. We heard Sebastian Faulks while we were there, and PD James and Ian Rankin are scheduled for later in the season.
“Best self catering we have ever stayed in” If you are going anywhere in Cambridgeshire i recommend you stay here, spotlessly clean, no problems at all, fantastic location, exactly as described. We would love to return one day.
“Ideal property in ideal location” The owner kept us informed of arrangements at all times by email in a timely manner.
There was off road parking. The property was ideally located in a quiet area. All within reasonable walking distance were the river, the railway station, Ely Cathedral, various shops and places to eat including Peacocks Tearoom and The Cutter Inn. There are also several walks.
The property itself having been recently refurbished to a high standard was very clean, very comfortable and very well equipped.
We had a lovely time and it was for us a perfect place to stay.
Lovely stay at Number 19 in Ely, a perfect location to explore the town. A very short, flat walk and you are at the Cathedral. Ely is a little hidden gem, we didn't realise it had so much to offer. The house, while reminding me of my grandparents with its decor and furnishings, was very clean and comfortable. My 3 year old loved exploring the house and garden. It was brilliant that everything we needed during our stay was there, including towels and cleaning supplies - like soap and washing up liquid. …
Bay Tree House
clean and safe neighborhood. modern amenities
We stayed and the Baytree house in the village of Ely. This location was very convenient to the town. It is located in a quiet neighborhood. The amenities are modern and the house is clean. The owner was nice enough to let us check in earlier in the day as we arrived the country early. …
2 Stable Mews
Fabulous little cottage. Clean, everything you could need. Great location. Had a couple of days around Ely....lovely little place, lots to see. And took 15 min train journey to Cambridge and spent an hour punting down the Backs in the sunshine. Stunning city with beautiful building. A must stay....great place for a few days or even a week. Recommended to a friend already who is looking to book. …
12 Church Lane, Ely
Wonderful accommodation in fabulous surroundings
The outside picture of the house does not do it justice, it is fantastic accommodation, well built and in keeping with the traditional buildings around it. My room had a lovely view and the house had all amenities required (and cake!), including patio chairs and table for sitting out in the walled garden. Accommodation is very well looked after and well decorated. Location couldn't have been better with Oliver Cromwell's House, St Mary's Church and the Cathedral on the doorstep. I would definitely stay here again if return to Ely and recommend it to anyone. …
31 Willow Walk
Excellent location, couple of minutes walk to supermarket, shops, restaurants, pubs, centre of town, river etc, but also very quiet. Very well equipped and very practical. Lovely walking up and down the river with a decent pub on the river. We stay at quite a few holiday lets/apartments etc and this is probably the best, certainly in the UK. I made a mess of the booking and we arrived a day earlier than we should but AJ went of his way to make sure we had everything we needed. …
