I stayed at Drumlin Barn for 1 week with my 4 chihuahuas and we had a lovely relaxing stay.
The area is very peaceful and the property has everything you could need.
It's in the country but doesn't take too long to get to Belfast and it's a nice drive along the way.
The owner Claire is lovely and very helpful.
I very much recommend it! …
Millers Barn Downpatrick- so peaceful
We came to Ireland for a nice peaceful break and to visit family. We live in the city so this location was perfect for us - it was so peaceful with beautiful surroundings and the cottage was provided everything that we needed and was lovely. We visit Ireland every year so we plan to return to this cottage. …
Gate Lodge At Oakley
Super hospitality, superb garden
This B&B is definitely in the countryside - surrounded by fields & with a distant view of the Irish sea. A mile or so away is the littlest pub you’ve ever been in - you’ll chat with everyone.
The bedroom is large - even with a woodburner, a sofa and chairs - and decorated with a lot of style and fun. One window looks out on a paved courtyard garden; from the other you can see your car park, the gate, the road, and what the weather is doing across the fields into the distance.
The bathroom is simple - and has the best shower I’ve experienced in 3 weeks in GB!
The flower & vegetable gardens surrounding the house are packed with treasures - it was a joy to stroll around them and be continually delighted. And in a big paddock beyond the garden: chickens, ducks, geese and turkeys!
Breakfasts were served at a big table a step up from the kitchen, looking out on part of the garden. Much of our breakfast came from the garden: freshly pressed apple juice, rhubarb compote, hen & duck eggs - complemented by excellent home baking.
However, the best part of our stay at the Gate Lodge was the owners’ engaging friendliness and hospitality - we loved it and didn’t want to leave! …
Mill Cottage Downpatrick
Super cottage, super hosts.
Mill cottage was perfect for our 2 week break. The cottage is very well appointed and has everything required for a comfortable stay.
The location suited us well. Downpatrick is just minutes away and Belfast is less than an hour distant. The cottage has a lovely big, and safe, garden.
Among other attractions, we visited the aquarium at Strangford, the folk & transport museum in Holywood, and the Titanic centre in Belfast.
Patricia and Bob took good care of us during our stay.

HEMP COTTAGE Riverside Cottage
Perfect Tranquil environment
We needed a place to stay near relatives over the holiday period. We are grandparents from Glasgow with two teenagers. At this time of year we were concerned about being warm enough. No worries here, with underfloor heating & a lovely wood burning stove, if you need it, the cottage so well insulated, proved to be very cosy. The facilities are great. Second bedroom although no photograph has large adult size very comfortable bunk beds. So our adult size teenagers were very happy. The double bedroom again very comfortable king size bed with wardrobe & everything you would need. Large modern wet room, perfect for us.
The cottage is actually very spacious with a well equipped kitchen & lovely dinning area with views of the river. The owners Tom & Racheal, perfect hosts so helpful but not intrusive, had no problem with us inviting our family over for lunch, so we were able to cater for 7 of us quite comfortably.
There's a beautiful garden with plenty of room to sit outside in this lovely environment. We were blessed with perfect weather, so could enjoy peaceful walks.
Downpatrick isn't far with shops & cinemas & a bit further Newcastle to see the Mountains of Mourne, Morlough beach & a coffee or ice- cream at Maud's.
For a family who live in the city, Hemp cottage gave us the chance to experience the " good life" in comfort. We came home feeling refreshed & happy, looking forward to our next visit here! …
