“Fabulous house in a quiet but accessable location” The Shutters is a fantastic house in a great location. The house more than matches up to the pictures and ad on the holiday guide - you will not be disappointed! The decoration, furniture, fittings and facilities are all 1st class. We stayed in November and the house was lovely and cosy - the gas wood burning stove is a great addition as it gives a direct heat to anyone sitting relaxing in the lounge without the rest of the house being stifling hot. The location is ideal for visiting Northumberland, Durham, Teesside and many parts of Yorkshire. For horse racing enthusiasts, the location is great for visiting many courses including Newcastle(30mins), Sedgefield(30 mins) and Hexham(40mins). The coast is within easy striking distance and would recommend a visit to the Victorian seaside resort of Saltburn by the Sea. A return visit is definitely on the cards.

“Fabulous trip!” I booked Olive for a 4 day trip as a surprise for my two boys (ages 7 and 8). I asked my boys afterwards how they rated Olive and my youngest gave it a million, million stars – unfortunately Tripadvisor only allows a maximum of 5! Olive has bags of charm and after a few minutes getting used to her, she is actually great to drive. It’s by no means a fast drive - but we took it to Ayr and back with no problems. Picking her up was straightforward and relaxed and the instructions on how to use everything were pretty simple. It was definitely a feel good trip as people wave at you as you drive past and come up to chat about her when you park-up for the night. The only sad part of the trip was handing the keys back when we got back.

“exquisite weardale experience” What a treasure! This cottage is in the centre of the beautiful town of Stanhope, a very short distance from the tranquil riverside walks, tearooms, quaint shops and the Weardale tourist centre. It is very quiet as it is off the main through road. There is a truly delightful steam railway that runs 40 mins down the valley - Pete Waterman and David Bellamy helped to get this line reopened several years ago and there are some fabulous theme days! Thanks Julie for a memorable stay. We will be back.

“Best holiday apartment we have ever experienced.” We have stayed in many short let apartments around England and this was the best ever. Chris, the host, met us at the station and ensured that we were comfortably settled; subsequently, when the DVD broke down, he was there almost immediately with a replacement - he did everything to make us feel at home and welcome. The apartment is ideally situated, just across the bridge from the centre of Durham, with a lovely view of the river - though it was too cold to use the patio it was a pleasure having breakfast and looking out at the rowers training. The decor was lovely - furniture comfortable and in excellent condition, everything tastefully chosen. The beds deserve particular mention: lots of goose feather/down pillows and fluffy duvets. There were much appreciated touches such as a welcome basket of biscuits and wine, milk, coffee, tea etc so that we didn't have to go straight to the supermarket, and good quality toiletries. Everything you could possible need was supplied. We had an excellent week at Elvet Bridge View - it felt like living 'at home', not in a rented apartment.

“Fantastic Property/Location” We, 4 friends of 70 years of age stayed in this property during May 2012.. It is very well equipped, modern, light and has beautiful views of the river. We had a fantastic time. We forgot some birthday presents for our grandchildren and Sarah's son kindly sent these to us with delivery the next morning. Thanks. Can highly recommend.
