“Wonderful welcome to Yorkshire” We have recently moved to the area after spending 6yrs in australia and had a very warm welcome from Mick, Sandra and family. It exceeded our expectations and the website photos don't do the place justice. It was amazing and the family gave us lots of advise on the area. The accommodation was one of the best we have stayed in and want more people to go and enjoy the hard work that the family have done in making a wonderful holiday getaway. The hot-tub was a huge bonus and our little Charlie loved the big bath.

“Relaxed & Chilled.” The Best thing I can say about our hosts Louise & Steve was that we never saw them apart from collecting and returning the keys. Let me explain more on this - we were met by our friendly and amicable hosts who explained how the hot tub worked, showed us inside the summer house where the bbq was and things such as where beach & nearby pubs were. We were advised if we needed anything at all and just ask, as I started didn't need to as EVERYTHING was perfect. We came for 3 stress free night's and that is exactly what we got, and was heavenly. The hot tub was cleaned daily and used up to 3 times a day by us and was great and even our autistic son adored it which was a real bonus. What Louise & Steve have created is a little haven with tremendous attention to detail, from the lights on the external trees to the little fairy tree house. The garden was large and ideal for my dog but so was the beach a gentle 10 mins stroll down the road. I highly recommend this stay as long as you want to chill & relax, if you are used to being constantly on the go this is a must to wind down. I had a chat with Louise on departure and told her to expect another visit from us - it was heavenly, and highly recommend.

“Fantastic getaway” We hired Waterside House for a long weekend as a venue for our wedding reception and it was absolutely amazing. The property itself was stunning and very well presented. James was extremely helpful and when we needed to ask him anything or request a favour (for example when some of our wedding arrangements went wrong!) he was friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate to hire this property again...we are just working how soon we can go back!

“Fantastic” Had a fantastic mini break here at Owl Barn Cottage. Margaret and Barry were very accommodating and ensured that we had settled in okay. The cottage is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing get away. The hot tub and wood burner are both a perfect added extra to the lovely accommodation and make your mini break that extra special. York is approx 8 miles away, cost £20 in a taxi however if you drive there is a park and ride a few miles down the road and the bus is £5 straight in York centre. Cannot compliment this place enough. We will be returning in the future and would definitely recommend Owl Barn to anyone who wants to get away for a mini break and a visit into York.

“Excellent value for money” Warm and friendly welcome on arrival. Owners Sue & Alan have thought of every detail and have a little gem of a holiday home. The hot tub is soooo relaxing after a long walk and there are white robes / slippers provided adding to the chilled out feeling once you're out of the tub. The "secret garden" behind the gate comes alive at night with lights that are tastefully placed around it and the hot tub,we spent a day just lounging on the garden chairs in the hot sunshine ( lucky with the weather). Difficult place to say " goodbye" to as its a peaceful haven. Good luck to Sue & Alan they've put a lot of thought ,hardwork into this lodge and we hope it goes from strength to strength. Really enjoyed our stay and celebrating a birthday here . Thank you Martin & Jeannie Widnes Cheshire

“Great cottage fantastic location.” Greeted by the owner, full of information, very friendly and helpful. welcome pack awaited us on arrival. lovely cottage fully equipped, probably more kitchen items than most of us have at home. climbing frame for children in garden, luckily we had glorious weather, but there was a fully equipped games room for wet days. everything worked and it was spotlessly clean, Would gladly go back if the need arose. Nice quiet location, good walk into Goathland once you find the way.

“Lovely night away” I booked the lodge for myself, my husband and our 6 month old little boy as we visited York the Christmas markets. The lodge was lovely, well decorated and clean. The hot tub was also great - a nice treat. The lodge also had a Christmas tree next to the fireplace, which I thought was a really nice touch and made our trip extra festive. There was also tea, coffee and hot chocolate laid out in the kitchen, and there was everything you could need if you wanted to cook. The main bedroom also had a TV, plenty of storage and a dressing table. There are two bathrooms, one with a shower and the other with double sinks and a bath. Our only small issue was the 4pm check-in time; when we arrived just after 4 it was very dark - the sign for the complex isn’t lit the lighting around the park isn’t great. However, I spoke to one of the staff on site and they advised check-in times will be moving to earlier from Jan, which I think is better, especially if you’re getting children out of the car. WiFi is charged at £3 a day, but you can add multiple devices and check-out is 10am. You can pay £20 to check out at 1pm. All in all a lovely stay.
