“Brilliant location” Perfectly located to access the beautiful surrounding countryside with great walks for my collie. In the evening it's a short stroll to the local pubs and restaurants. Would definitely recommend Panetti's and The Taste of India. The cottage has everything you need with the addition of the great dog friendly garden with a gate that leads direct to a walk along the beck. The bottle of wine was a lovely touch. We will be returning.

“A wonderful cottage in a lovely location.” Our family: two adults/two children with Grandma and Grandad, visted this cottage and found it to be spotlessly clean, with all the facilities you could ask for in a self catering property. The location was ideal, in a pleasant village and accessible to the surrounding area such as York. I will certainly visit again!

“spacious” place was spacious clean smelt nice. Didn't like parking on the road but nothing negative apart from that. Next doors cats came and said hello most days which is ok if you don't have a dog with you which we didn't. Rebecca came and said hello and gave us some information that would be handy for us. Had a lovely holiday.

“Singularly enchanting” Gina's healthy home is like nowhere else I have ever stayed. Not only in a wonderful location and beautifully laid out, but also packed with interesting features and curios. It was an education for our group of ten not particularly spiritually inclined or harmonious 30 year chaps. We found it difficult to decide which of the many lovely sitting rooms to hang out in next. Soothed by the overall effect of the place after three days, everyone was very reluctant to head back to their city jobs and boring houses and flats.

“Fantastic” Had a fantastic mini break here at Owl Barn Cottage. Margaret and Barry were very accommodating and ensured that we had settled in okay. The cottage is beautiful and perfect for a relaxing get away. The hot tub and wood burner are both a perfect added extra to the lovely accommodation and make your mini break that extra special. York is approx 8 miles away, cost £20 in a taxi however if you drive there is a park and ride a few miles down the road and the bus is £5 straight in York centre. Cannot compliment this place enough. We will be returning in the future and would definitely recommend Owl Barn to anyone who wants to get away for a mini break and a visit into York.

“Excellent value for money” Warm and friendly welcome on arrival. Owners Sue & Alan have thought of every detail and have a little gem of a holiday home.The hot tub is soooo relaxing after a long walk and there are white robes / slippers provided adding to the chilled out feeling once you're out of the tub. The "secret garden" behind the gate comes alive at night with lights that are tastefully placed around it and the hot tub,we spent a day just lounging on the garden chairs in the hot sunshine ( lucky with the weather). Difficult place to say " goodbye" to as its a peaceful haven. Good luck to Sue & Alan they've put a lot of thought ,hardwork into this lodge and we hope it goes from strength to strength. Really enjoyed our stay and celebrating a birthday here . Thank you Martin & Jeannie Widnes Cheshire

“A fantastic house on a lovely site.” The house is immaculate, with many thoughtful touches. It is located on a quiet site, but has a range of good facilities. The owner is very helpful, sending lots of information beforehand. The step down onto the paved bbq area is quite steep, making it difficult for less mobile people.

“Perfect place to stay in Whitby” Six of us stayed in Gulls Cry Cottage in September and had a lovely break, the cottage is extremely comfortable, nicely set up and ideally situated in Whitby. I have already recommended this cottage to a work colleague and would happily recommend to anybody wishing to visit Whitby.
