pretty lodge house in quintessential english country village built around 150 years ago in a toll house style and located in the heart of the village of ditcheat. It is off the beaten track yet easily accessible from the a37 fosse way. Ditcheat is well known to followers of national hunt racing as the home of champion trainer paul nicholls. a stones throw from the lodge is the historic st mary of magdelene church which was part of the glastonbury abbey and dates from the 12th century. The village inn is sure to become a second home during your stay and has featured many times on channel 4 racing when interviewing stars who come to visit the manor house stables. Early breakfasts can be arranged for those who need to be up and gone by the crack of dawn. The glastonbury festival site is just over 1 mile away and the bath and west showground is 1.5 miles. Lots of places to visit within a 20 mile radius, such as longleat, wookey hole caves, glastonbury abbey and tor, clarks shopping village at street, haynes motor museum, an array of national trust houses such as lytes cary, montecute and stourhead house and gardens. Castle cary has a collection of niche shops and boutiques as well as a superb bakers, grocers, butchers village store and vintner. the delightful accommodation offers period features such as pointed windows and flagstone floors. Three bedrooms: accessed via a winding wooden staircase (care required) and all bedrooms have wooden floors and are accessed through the master bedroom which has two queen-size beds. A couple of steps lead down to 2 single rooms. Bathroom: situated downstairs, large with electric shower over bath and wc. Lounge: with flagstone floor, open fire and tv/dvd.
