The Cumbria region

Kirkby Lonsdale is an excellent base for exploring the magnificent Lake District, Ingleton Fells, the Lancashire coast and the Yorkshire Dales. There are lotsof attractions from walking, fishing, shopping, sailing to boat trips. There are many wonderful places to visit such as Windermere, Beatrix Potter’s 17th century farmhouse in Hawkshead, the beautiful market town of Kendal and Levens hall to name but a few. The weather in the Lake District is famously known for its unpredictability however it can provide some lovely weather in the summer and traditional English cold but cosy winters. The best part is that you don't need fantastic weather to enjoy Kirkby Lonsdale as it is an all year round destination.

Kirkby Lonsdale

Kirkby Lonsdale has many local attractions such as St Mary’s church and Ruskin’s View painted by the local famous artist Turner and named after John Ruskin who described the view of the river Lune as "One of the loveliest views in England".

There are beautiful walks of all lengths and ability levels, straight from the front door. Kirkby Lonsdale offers a wonderful array of shops aimed at all ages and even a small Chocolate Mine which is perfect for children. Additionally there is the most fabulous choice of delightful tea rooms, restaurants and pubs. Whether you are looking for a traditional pub meal, a delicious homemade pizza, tapas, Indian or a small bite to eat the market town and its surrounding areas offer a vast amount of choice.

Furthermore if you take a trip out of the town there are many places to visit such as Sizbergh Castle, Levens Hall, Docker Park Farm and just 18 miles away is Windermere. Kirkby Lonsdale is an all year round holiday destination, and has an annual Victorian Day and Christmas Fair. Ideal for families and couples alike. It will appeal to walkers, cyclists, fishing enthusiasts, golfers and horse riders

"Beautiful, cosy cottage"

A beautifully presented cottage in an ideal location. The cottage is spacious and well equipped. We visit Kirby Lonsdale regularly and this cottage is a minutes walk from the centre with its wonderful pubs, restaurants and boutique shops. There are many great villages, national trust properties and activities for children to visit close by.Our two children loved the courtyard garden and the bedrooms were perfect for them. The wood burner is an excellent addition and adds to the cosy atmosphere. I'm sure we will visit again and would recommend this cottage to all.

"Light, lovely house right in the centre of Kirkby Lonsdale."

The perfect base for a walking, eating and drinking weekend with friends. Bang in the middle of Kirkby Lonsdale yet with good parking availability, which is at a premium in this narrow-streeted old town. The house itself is clean, bright and well-equipped. We had a lovely time.

"Perfect in Every Way"

We have stayed at Jasmine Cottage numerous times and it has never disappointed. It is clean, superbly equipped, warm and welcoming. There are always little extra touches that make you feel at home and it is continually updated; including an excellent WIFI service. The patio is a big plus and a real sun trap. Kirkby Lonsdale is a wonderful little town in a great location; with excellent restaurants, interesting shops and superb access to all the places you might want to visit while in this most beautiful area. There are walks from the door or a short drive away. There is a wide range of activities available for all interests and ages. It's our second home, we love visiting it and would recommend it most highly to everyone.

Many thanks for your lovely comments, you are always welcome back at the cottage, we love having you and it doesn't go missed that you look after it like it was your second home!

"Warm cosy and clean property"

The property was warm and cosy very close to all the shops and lovely pubs serving good food. There is parking allocated to you very close to the property which is of great benefit as parking in the town is restricted. We had a lovely time and the town itself is well worth a visit for its specialist shops. There are great walks from the door and the area around the town is lovely.

"A home from home in lovely Kirkby Lonsdale"

We had a fabulous time staying in your beautiful home from home. When we arrived it was set out so nicely and we found it had everything that we needed and more. The small touches such as the lovely coffee make it really stand out from other places I have stayed in the area. The owners went out of their way to make sure we had a great holiday and even suggested trying Avanti's food which lived up to their fab review. We will definitely be back and will be recommending to all our friends. Their Facebook page is great for ideas and I look forwards to staying when you have the log burner. Thank you

"Warm, cosy, comfortable and clean"

The title says it all really. We (myself, my wife, our eldest son, daughter-in-law and our two grandchildren) stayed in Jasmine Cottage for three nights over the weekend of 5 December. The cottage was everything we expected and more and we wanted for nothing, with good-sized rooms and a very well equipped kitchen, although we only breakfasted in the cottage, preferring to eat out during the day. There is such a good choice of restaurants within minutes (even seconds) walking distance along with pubs and individual shops. Even so the location as extremely quiet and peaceful. The beds are very comfortable and there is plenty of storage space in the bedrooms. The bathroom and over-bath shower are excellent with constant hot water. The facility for parking is an added bonus as it's free and right outside the door. All in all we can highly recommend Jasmine Cottage as a great place to stay, whether it's for just enjoying Kirkby Lonsdale for what it is - easy, relaxed and individual, or as a base for walking the local fells.

"Great cottage"

Great well equipped cottage in a good location. Kirkby Lonsdale is lovely village with lots of good pubs and restaurants. The cottage is very clean and comfortable, very well thought out with everything you will need and more, right down to an umbrella in case of rain, and a little torch should you be out late and need a bit extra light to guide you home. We took things like washing up liquid, dishwasher tablets, kitchen roll etc. as it was self catering, but all this and more was provided. Go to the sun inn for a meal, you will not be dissapointed. Would definitely return.

Thank you for your lovely comments, we are so pleased that you enjoyed your stay and would happily welcome you back any time.
