The C18th Inglenook Cottage is a stone-built two-storey cottage converted from a former farm (Town Tenement Farm) in the peaceful village of Challacombe within the Exmoor National Park. The large living room has an impressive stone inglenook fireplace with a log burning stove, bread oven, salt safe and 32" widescreen TV. The separate kitchen is well equipped and has a dishwasher, washing machine and tumble dryer, and a stable door leading out to a private enclosed patio garden and there is also a small front garden with a picnic table. There are three bedrooms, a double, a single and a king-sized double (or twin utilising a ziplink bed). The bright, modern bathroom has a bath, separate shower & WC.
Beside the cottage are three acres of wildlife grounds, ideal for families and dogs. There are wildflower meadows, several lawned and wooded areas, fruit and vegetable gardens, a wildlife pond, lots of birds and butterflies and a delightful walk up and around Humphrey's Hill.
The cottages and grounds are very child friendly. We can provide a cot, high chair, fire guard and stair gate (if required) and within the grounds is a large play area with two towers linked with a bridge, including swings, a slide, climbing board, climbing ropes and fireman's pole.
The village of Challacombe is very friendly towards visitors, there are excellent local walks and it is an ideal central location from which to explore Exmoor, the sandy beaches of Woolacombe and Croyde, and the rocky coves of the North Devon & Somerset coast.
Within two minutes walk is a pub, The Black Venus, with award-winning food and real ales; and a Post Office & shop, with delicious cream teas and home-made cakes.
Inglenook Cottage is one of five cottages at Exmoor Cottage Holidays and has been recently renovated with double glazing, insulated walls, and a new kitchen and bathroom.

Challacombe is a peaceful friendly village within the Exmoor National Park. There is an award-winning pub in the village, and a shop and post office. Challacombe is surrounded by walks on all sides, perfect for dogs, and within 5 miles is a large lake (Wistlandpound), ideal for trout fishing and with an easy circular walk.
Challacombe is an ideal base from which to explore Exmoor and the north Devon and Somerset coast - within half-an-hours drive are the wide sandy beaches of Woolacombe & Croyde; the seaside resorts of Instow and Ilfracombe; the charming villages of Lynton and Porlock; the medieval towns of Dulverton and Dunster; scenic attractions Tarr Steps and The Valley of Rocks and the whole of Exmoor, with its amazing scenery and wildlife. With so little light pollution at night, Exmoor National Park is the first Dark Skies Reserve in Europe.

"A lovely cottage"
We stayed at Inglenook Cottage for a windy week in October. It was warm and cosy. We did get out for a few walks but the cottage, although small, was a lovely place to shelter from the storms. Great f… More
Thank you for your feedback. Dogs are very welcome in the lounge in Inglenook and most of our guests bring towels, blankets and bedding for their dogs' comfort. Some prefer their dogs to stay in the kitchen, which has a vinyl floor. Next time you may wish to consider the Farmhouse, it is even more spacious than Inglenook and has a stone floor in the lounge.
