The Cumbria/Lake District
The Lake District conjures up images of magnificent mountains and shimmering lakes and that is exactly what visitors find here. In fact the whole county of Cumbria is home to some of Britain's most beautiful scenery.
This region has been a favourite all year round holiday destination for years and apart from its natural beauty it's also packed with lots of attractions and activities that cater for every kind of holidaymaker, from family holidays to romantic breaks for couples and from those who are looking for lots of activities and sports to those that prefer more gentle country pursuits.
The Lake District National Park lies at the heart of Cumbria and contains well known and much loved holiday destinations such as Windermere, Bowness, Ambleside, Coniston and Grasmere, here there are lots of charming Lakeland villages to discover and visitor attractions for all the family.
The northern and western lakes have miles of untouched natural rugged beauty and rural villages as well as being home to the historic northern lakes town of Keswick with its many shops, pubs and restaurants; providing a great holiday base.
Other areas to discover include the Eden Valley, Cartmel peninsula, south east Cumbria and the Carlisle and Hadrian's Wall area; all equally beautiful and very handy for day trips into the lakes.
Well stocked village shop. Brambles cafe serving lovely cakes and coffee. Wainwrights Inn 200m away serving wide range of local food and real ale. Gothic 14th century church. Riverside walk - 200m. Fellside walks - 200m

Thanks a lot for your kind review. And thanks for looking after the cottage. I must admit I'm always a little nervous with dogs staying (unfortunate incident last year) but with every doggy guest, my confidence is being re-built that most dog owners are responsible and respectful people. Oh yes, and my cleaner passes on her thanks too - she's never had an easier clean!! Warren

Many thanks and great to hear you enjoyed your stay. The Langdales are wonderful even in February but sublime in summer. And I do keep adding little things to try and make it more a home from home - it's actually better equipped than my main home! Hope to see you back soon. Warren

Thanks for your kind words and I'm glad you had a good time despite the weather. Having experienced the odd rainy day in the Lakes myself, I know it's good to have some things to do indoors to keep you entertained - and that's why I keep adding things to the games room! Hope to see you back and I'll sort out some sunny weather for you next time....Warren

Thanks for your kind words. Unfortunately, the "lack of wifi to help you unwind" has now been spoilt by me installing broadband wifi. I was torn between putting it in or not, as it is nice to not feel the pressure to check emails all the time, but I had too many people asking for it.
Anyway, I'm really glad you enjoyed your stay and I hope the wifi doesn't put you off returning in the future!

Thanks for the review Stacey - and glad you enjoyed the stove. I'm really pleased with it and it adds that extra bit of character that was missing before I had it installed.
Hope to see you back soon. Broadband and some more kit for the Games room are on my shopping list!

"Lovely cottage & village, well worth a visit"

Thanks for the kind review. Yes, mobile signal is patchy but slowly getting better I think. Though, sometimes it's nice not to be contactable!! Having said that, it's the way of the world these days and though I can't do much about the mobile network coverage, I am looking to put some broadband wi-fi in the house so people can Skype, WhatsApp, Viber etc on the Interweb.
Glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you back soon.
