The Northern England / Northumberland region
Northumberland boasts more castles and fortified houses than any other county in Britain, including Bamburgh Castle, Chillingham Castle, Dunstanburgh Castle, Lindisfarne Castle, Warkworth Castle and Alnwick Castle. National Trust properties include Cragside (the first home in the world to have hydro-electricity) and Wallington Hall.
Hadrian’s Wall built in 122AD by Emporer Hadrian is a world heritage site with forts such as Chesters, Housesteads and Vindolands being well worth a visit. The Farne Islands which can be reached by boats from Seahouses are home to grey seals and puffins. The Holy Island of Lindisfarne is accessible by a tidal causeway north of Bamburgh.

The house is 4 miles from the beautiful white sand beaches at Alnmouth and is an ideal base to explore the castles, glorious beaches and rolling Cheviot Hills of Northumberland.
There are a number of golf courses in the area including, Foxton Hall in Alnmouth and Goswick Park.
Whatever your interest, whether it be golf, cycling, walking or birdwatching, Northumberland has something for you.
