Built from stone, this property has all the classic charm of an old, country cottage and comfortable accommodation for up to five people. Originally part of a farmhouse built in the 1700s, this property has been sympathetically restored to offer accommodation for groups of up to five people. It has retained much of its charm through original features such as exposed beams, a bread oven and a cooking fireplace in which the owner has installed a wood-burning stove; perfect for cosy winter nights. For the hazy summer evenings and a bite to eat outside, there is a large, private lawn. With off-road parking for up to four cars, the cottage is enviably located for all the nearby attractions. Amenities: Radiators fuelled by multi-fuel stove in sitting room. Electric cooker, microwave, fridge, dishwasher, TV, DVD, CD/radio, small library of books and games. Laundry room with washing machine, tumble dryer and drying rail. All fuel and power inc. in rent. Bed linen and towels inc. in rent. Cot and highchair available. Off road parking for 4 cars. Lockable bike storage. Large, enclosed lawned garden with patio furniture (BBQ available). Separate play area for football and other games. Sorry, no pets and no smoking. Shop 5 miles, pub 10 mins walk. Note: Stairs in property are steep and winding with a rope handrail - may be unsuitable for less mobile. Note: Stouphill Gate B&B is next door with 2 en-suite bedrooms (one with disabled friendly facility) at additional charge. These can be rented with the cottage to provide additional accommodation for larger groups - contact owners for details. Region: Impressive mountains, open fells and clear-water lakes, the Lake District has it all. From walking in the mountains to exhilarating watersports or just a gentle cruise on a steam-powered yacht, Cumbria is the perfect holiday destination. Town: A small and compact village, Ravenstonedale has much to offer the visitor seeking a quieter experience than the nearby Lake District National Park provides. It is a pretty village; traditional whitewashed stone cottages and stone walls border the fields, whilst the Raven brook trickles by. St Oswald's church is largely from the Georgian era, comprising a solid structure with a simple square tower. In addition, there are elements from older buildings incorporated in it, and the base of a Saxon cross just outside. To the north of the church, excavations in 1920 revealed the foundations of a 13th Century Gilbertine Abbey. Ravenstonedale is a fantastic base for exploring the Lakes to the west or the Yorkshire Dales, just a short drive to the east. Those who prefer to stay closer to home can explore the Howgill Fells, the rounded hills which signal the start of the Lakeland ranges. Additional amenities include: cooker.  …see more
