“Fantastic place, very clean and comfortable....great for families” A very nice bungalow. The kids especially had a fantastic time, particularly enjoying raiding the cupboard full of classic family board games. It really was a very relaxing place to stay, and most importantly for us, clean and well maintained. If you wake up early enough, the sunrise view over the sea was pretty spectacular.
We used this as a base from which to explore the various parts of Cornwall via day trips. It was a real pleasure to return here to relax in the evenings. I would definitely recommend this bungalow to others. A word of advice though, make sure you bring a decent satnav, its invaluable here.
“Perfect quiet retreat in mid-cornwall” We have just returned from a lovely break at the Wheal Bush Annex, thank you Karen and Mark (and Dave the dog)!
The annex is attached to the owners house, but you have absolute privacy. Mark and Karen are great hosts, on hand if you need anything, but happy to keep quiet if you just want to potter about and find your own way.
It is quite small, but it has been converted very well, and the facilities are just what you need. Our only negative comment was that the bed was quite small, it seemed smaller than a regular double! So if you are long and tall, or perhaps on the curvier side, it might not be as comfy as you require! Despite this, we slept well - all the fresh country air, and it is so peaceful and quiet.
The surrounding area is full of things to do. Right next to the property are two old cornish engine houses, which are lovely to look at. From here there are numerous country walks and bridle paths (if you are of a horsy nature!). Oh and you can cycle lots from here too. A car is essential though as it is very rural, but this wasn't a problem and there is parking right outside. There isn't a pub or restaurants to walk to, so you really need to drive out to one of the local villages or towns.
We were looking for a base to relax and explore the local countryside and this is a perfect spot. We enjoyed going out for the day, lots of walking around the coastline, lunches and cream teas and then we pottered home, cooked tea and drank wine! Perfect. It is really easy to get to St Ives, Newquay, Padstow, Fowey and more. Mark and Karen have lots of tips for nice beaches, pubs and place to eat locally, we particularly enjoyed Godrevy Head and PorthTowan beach.
I really look forward to returning to the Wheal Bush Annex, we had a lovely break. The added bonus is Dave the dog. A wonderful whippet who will happily come and sit with you in the garden or in the annex. We were really hoping that Dave might like to come back to Brighton with us . . !
“Perfect cottage, perfect location & perfect host!” Stable Cottage is beautifully decorated, well equipped, and spotlessly clean. Judy has thought of literally everything and has made a lovely home from home, we were very relaxed here and could’ve easily stayed longer. The location is very rural yet only 5 minutes from the A30 which means everywhere is easily accessible. We loved Porthtowan (2 miles away) and Portreath (7 miles away) beaches.
Also worth a stop - Etherington’s Farm Shop (1 mile away).
“Views to die for” We had a lovely few days at Portscatho, staying at this superbly located house. The Quarry was a great base to explore the Cornish coastline with its lovely beeches and villages. You can walk directly to a few beautiful coves to play on and it's only a short drive to various others for picnics and crabbing.
The house has everything that you could need, making it a home from home and the views of the coast from the lounge are really breath-taking.
“Wonderful Host and Wonderful Place” The place of our stay was awesome. Beside the sea with a bedroom facing the sea. Balcony in the open air facing the sea. Parking space.
Angela had been a great host.
