    Ryton holiday cottage rental

     (11)Very Good

“A perfect base for us to come back to each evening.” Just what we needed. A base in the beautiful countryside just outside Shrewsbury. The cottage was clean & well equipped & the owners could not have been friendly.

    The Mallards
A pretty cottage with everything you could need and in a lovely area!

Just returned today from a 4 day trip to The Mallards with my husband and two teenage sons. The owners at this property were very helpful and always available if needed and the cottage had everything we could have wanted and more! A hairdryer, DVDs, books, board games and Kim had even provided some yummy homemade lemon cake and tea making supplies upon arrival (definitely appreciated after an extended sit in endless Easter traffic!) The location was quiet and the cottage had its own little enclosed garden and seating area. We even had use of a field (which the dog loved - yes they take dogs too!) and where the boys spent half an hour playing hide and seek at dusk one evening (despite being 16 and 18)! We initially chose the location as it was somewhere in the UK we had not visited before and were surprised at how much there was to do and how beautiful the whole area was. We will definitely be returning to the Shropshire Hills! We were very lucky with the weather and on day one we visited the small town of Welshpool, just over the border in Wales. Very pretty, lots of shops and the best sweet shop ever!!! Day two we drove across the Shopshire Hills and moors, which were beautiful, and visited the town of Church Stretton. Had another mooch around the local shops (and the huge antiques centre which was fab!) before having a pub lunch followed by a walk in Capability Brown's Rectory Woods. Day three we walked a mile into the local village of Dorrington with the dog, where we had a scrummy 3 course lunch (Easter Sunday) for £17.95 each. We would all recommend The Horseshoes pub as a good place to eat locally! Great food and friendly service. We had an amazing time at The Mallards and spent some real quality family time together in a beautiful environment - much appreciated by us all as we have just dropped our eldest back at University nearby :'-( However we definitely plan on returning and highly recommend this property! see more
