“Excellent cottage in beautiful surroundings”

Reviewed 26 Jul 2016

We had a week at the Four Winds with family and we found the cottage extremely comfortable for our large group and with everything you could possibly need. All rooms were en-suite except one, which had a bathroom just across the hall. The kitchen had a table big enough to seat all of our group (9) and we had many cheerful nights in this room. The surrounding countryside is spectacular and the Four Winds has an upper lounge with long velux windows that look down the Kyles of Bute. The outhouse had a dart board and table tennis which kept the younger ones happy, with a large front garden that saw a bit of football as well. We made several trips to the Kames hotel for a meal and some drinks, which is only a 10 minute walk down the hill. Tighnabruaich itself is only a 20 minute walk, which also has several hotels. On the couple of rainy days we had we visited the new Leisure complex at Portavadie which has a large outdoor swimming pool and some Jacuzzi baths outside! Swimming in the rain. We also managed a trip on the Waverley, which stops in at Tighnabruaich on a Wednesday. All in all a great week at a great cottage with fantastic surroundings. Hope to be back.

Thank you for your review & we're thrilled you had a great holiday.

Accommodation was lovely, very comfortable and had all amenities you could wish for. The weather was gorgeous during our stay and the views from the house were amazing. Within walking distance to a convenience store and the local hotel. Will certainly be back next year as its so relaxing.

Thank you for you comments. We're so pleased you enjoyed your stay and want to return and that the house had everything you were lookign for.

We visited Four Winds for a second time. We had six in our party and everybody thoroughly enjoyed it. The cottage is friendly and well equipped. The location is super and the area is really beautiful. We're going again next year !

Delighted you enjoyed your stay & look forward to welcoming you back.

“Fabulous cottage in excellent location and really friendly owners”

Reviewed 5 Jul 2015

We had a fabulous week at the Four Winds. The cottage is really well appointed throughout, clean and with fantastic lounge areas especially upstairs which has fantastic views. We went as two couples plus dog and were then later joined by our early twenties, son and daughter who also loved it (the WiFi is also excellent). The cottage already comes with pretty much everything you need apart from food! We managed 9 holes on the local golf course on the Wednesday (pay via honesty box!) and it was a great course with fantastic views and we also had glorious weather for it which was a bonus. We had a fantastic day at the beach on the Thursday (Killbrides Bay) and a swim in the sea (with our dog!). Then out for a lovely meal in the Kames hotel on Friday night which was a short walk away. Another really nice touch was that the owners rang during the week to make sure everything was OK. Would also recommend the localish cafe The Barn, nice food and people there too! All in all, the six of us really enjoyed ourselves and are certainly thinking about when we will be going back. Tim and Julie O'Rourke

Delighted you had a great holiday and thank you for you kind words.

“Felt at home straight away.”

Four Winds was a fantastic base for our weeks holiday. The cottage was very well equipped and comfortable. Everything we would expect was provided with additional touches including the wifi and table tennis table an added bonus. We would certainly consider a return visit and recommend to others.

We're delighted that you enjoyed your stay and that you had everything you needed. We look forward to welcoming you back.

“Wonderful property in a fantastic location”

Cottage was warm and clean , equipped with everything you could ever want . The views are stunning especially from the upstairs lounge . the location is fantastic with pubs and shop in easy walking distance. The pictures and reviews we had seen looked great but it exceeded our expectations . We all agreed we would love to return some time.

Thank you for your comments and we are glad that you had a happy holiday. Hope to welcome you back, Adrian & Val

“Perfect”

This was our forth visit to four winds, now its not like holiday, its like going home, the house is very well stocked with everything you could need, the views are fantastic, fishing off the pier is fun, afternnon tea at the barn in millhouse was so good we went back three times, wish i could make scones like the can, inver cottage on the banks of loch fyne has the friendliest staff, the food is great and the views over the loch are beautiful, its well worth the forty minute drive to get there. from portavadie(4miles), you can catch the ferry to tarbert, i would say to leave the car at the port as its not far to walk anywhere on tarbert and so pretty, you see so much more when your walking, if you like fresh fish this is the place to buy it. If you want to get away from it all this is the place to go, i can,t wait to go back again and four winds will always have a place in our hearts, very special memories

Thank you very much for your kind comments. We look forward to welcoming you back.

“Excellent holiday home.”

Reviewed 4 Aug 2014

We had a great week in this marvelous house with amazing views over the Kyles of Bute and even better views on the many pleasant walks on our doorstep. The sun shone all week and visits to the shore and Ostal bay were great. On arrival we found the info list which we received before departing to Tighnabruaich to be most helpful with regard to the TV, washing machine etc. and this is not always available in some of the houses we have rented. In all an excellent well equipped holiday home and one which I am sure we will visit again.

We had a fantastic week in Scotland. I can highly recommend this property, it was clean, comfortable, warm and welcoming. If it is peace and solitude with friendly locals then this is your place. The views over the Kyles of Bute cannot be matched we consider ourselves very lucky to have found Fourwinds and when we visit this area again we shall stay there. An absolute must are the fish and chips from Kames Hotel best I've ever tasted.

“Christmas at Fourwinds”

Reviewed 21 Apr 2013

We are a family of 8 that enjoyed a wonderful christmas at Fourwinds. The cottage was clean, airy and very spacious with a kitchen table that easily seated us all. The local area provides all you would need in terms of a friendly pub, a fully stocked convenience store and a post office all within walking distance it even has a golf course! The whole area is beautiful with views that are breathtaking and the beach that is located minutes away by car is stunning. We will definately be returning.
