Region: Cornwall's visitors are constantly tempted back to the beautiful coastline, tiny fishing villages, hidden coves and the world-class surfing. Whatever the reason, Cornwall has long cemented its place as one of Britain's premier holiday destinations.
Town: St Ives is a seaside town and former commercial fishing port in Cornwall. Previously the town was dependant on fishing but over time has now become primarily a popular seaside resort, although the harbour is still there and fisherman come and go with their daily catch. The town was also renowned for the number of artists, the beauty of the place was an attraction and now the Tate Gallery sits on the outskirts of the town. There are shops, eateries, galleries and lots more within the town itself. The beaches at Porthminster and Porthmeor are sandy and great for water sports.
