5 The Priory is a luxury 1 bedroom ground floor apartment situated in a Victorian former gentlemen's residence overlooking Shanklin and Sandown Bay. The building stands above lush woodland grounds and is situated in a quiet yet convenient position on the coastal path on the outskirts of Shanklin, adjacent to National Trust land extending to Luccombe Chine and the Downs. The apartment has been furnished to a very high standard and provides comfortable accommodation. The good sized private decked terrace provides spectacular sea views and is ideal for relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine whilst soaking up the relaxing and peaceful surroundings.The apartment is ideally situated for those wishing to explore the miles of coastal and country footpaths that surround the property. To the south of the High Street and towards The Priory lies the picturesque thatched Old Village with its pubs, tearooms and gift shops. Near to the Old Village is Shanklin Chine, a natural wooded gorge, and Rylstone Gardens, a relaxing park with crazy golf and tea gardens in a flower filled setting.The long safe sandy beach is on a lower level. One can walk, use the lift or drive down to the seafront. Coastal paths make for scenic walking to neighbouring Sandown or in the other direction to the pretty village of Luccombe, and through the winding paths of the landslip to Bonchurch and Ventnor beyond. Sandown and Shanklin on the south-east coast share a wide crescent of golden sand, with safe swimming, water sports and a range of bars, pubs and cafés. The southern stretch, below Shanklin Chine, is the quietest and most attractive.Ventnor has a wonderful Mediterranean feel and, like Sandown and Shanklin, an enviable sunshine record. Steephill Cove is its prettiest beach, a peaceful little bay with a good beach café. Reach it via the coastal footpath from the Botanic Gardens, or La Falaise car park in Ventnor.Godshill is the quintessential English Village with its charming thatch-roofed cottages and winding main street lined with many tearooms, lovely pubs and shops. There are numerous coastal paths around the Island. Whale Chine is the most spectacular in a series of Chines along this stretch of coastline towards Freshwater.The accommodation: Video entry phone system. The private entrance hallway leads to: Open plan living room, dining room & kitchen - a lovely room with spectacular views over Shanklin & Sandown Bay and the English channel, France can be seen on a clear day. Living area with chaise sofabed, dining table and chairs. Linen not provided for sofabed. The living room has solid hardwood oak floor with French doors to private decked terrace area. Kitchen area well fitted with a good range of floor and wall mounted units and appliances, tiled floor.Double bedroom with king sized bed, ample storage space providing views to Shanklin & Sandown Bay and the English channel. Bedside tables with lamps and clock. Drawers with table mirror and wardrobe. Bathroom fully tiled with suite comprising bath with shower over, hand held shower, WC, WHB, heated towel rail. Outside - There is a good sized enclosed private decked area with table & chairs, ideal for alfresco dining or enjoying a glass of wine in the evening whilst soaking up the fantastic sea and coastal view. There are also delightful communal landscaped woodland grounds with garden furniture providing a restful haven for guests.

Known as the Garden Isle because of its stunning natural beauty, the Isle of Wight is the perfect UK destination for holidays and tourists, catering for all age groups.
Due to the warmer climate that The Isle of Wight enjoys, being gently warmed by the Gulf Stream, the Island is often warmer than the rest of Mainland UK. It also helps to make The Isle of Wight a year round destination. The Island in autumn and the winter months is peaceful and breathtaking. Whilst in spring you can walk through woodland carpeted with Bluebells.
The Isle of Wight offers a holiday for everyone all year round. Walkers and cyclists visit the Island to enjoy over 500 miles of footpaths and bridleways and many visitor attractions, as well as the stunning views, countless pubs and the feeling of freedom.
The coastal resort of Shanklin is located at the south east corner of the Island at the southern most tip of Sandown Bay. The town is well served by the railway, which connects to the high speed ferry terminal at the top of Ryde Pier, allowing easy access to the mainland and London. There are also regular bus services to the Islands principal towns.
Shanklin has long been a location for family holidays, with a safe sandy beach and clear waters. The bay is sheltered from the prevailing wind by Dunnose Point, which is a stunning backdrop, with the tall cliffs of Luccombe and St. Boniface Downs beyond. Looking out to The English Channel across The Bay, views extend around to the white cliffs of Culver and Bembridge Downs. By the beach there is crazy golf, children's amusements and car parking. A lift provides easy access to the cliff tops, where the views are even more spectacular, so the less energetic or disabled people don't have to climb the steps. The seafront is a real attraction for visitors to the town, with a wealth of eating establishments. There is a bus service which provides a regular service through the summer months to the town centre and Old Village.
Shanklin is most famed for its good weather and the pretty Old Village, which is located on the south side of the town, towards Ventnor and Bonchurch. The village is extremely pretty and most tourists head to the area for the thatched cottages, quaint shops and old fashioned tea rooms, which not only offer cream teas, but sea food specialities and attractive surroundings. In the heart of The Old Village are several pubs which are attractive and provide good food and a great venue for a lively evening. Just past the entrance to The Crab Inn is the start of Shanklin Chine, a deep gorge carved out by a stream, which is a restful and picturesque place to spend the morning or afternoon. In the evening the waterfalls and woodland are illuminated, giving the gardens a totally different aspect and atmosphere.

Fantastic place to stay clean beautiful views if your looking for a quiet peaceful break don't mind a 20 minute walk partly a climb walking back this is the place to stay with great value.

I booked this apartment because the reviews were great and the photos looked good and we were not disappointed in any way. The ground floor apartment is perfect for two with all the mod cons and comforts you would like. The balcony is a delight on a sunny day although with typical British weather we could only use it a few times! We loved the location at the top of Shanklin as that gave us great views across the bay but if you walk into the old village there is a fairly steep hill down (which feels even steeper on the way back!) Good exercise but there is pretty good parking if you prefer to use the car. The apartment really felt like home when we returned from a day out.
Our stay here was perfect,the apartment is of a very high quality with everything one needs to make the stay comfortable. It's a lovely old house which has been converted into very stylish apartments.It has a lovely raised decking area which gives extensive views along the coast and out to sea
