“Idyllic Retreat”

Reviewed 3 Sep 2016

We came as a family of ten to celebrate a 50th birthday, and could not have found better to accommodate us for the week. We walked, cycled, swam, barbecued, played golf, rode horses, played games inside on an evening and thoroughly felt at home in this delightful lodge. The accomodation was spotlessly clean and very well presented, with Rosemary, the owner not too far away. Having a large utility room as you come into the lodge was very useful for getting all our outdoors clothes and shoes off. The large and well equipped kitchen, includes two large fridge freezers, excellent large cooker/oven, microwave and all you could want for a large group. There is even the services of a cook if you require one for that special occasion. The bedrooms are delightfully decorated. There is a dining room and a comfortable lounge which leads out to the private garden. We stayed a week, but quite honestly we all could have stayed much longer as the property has a very homely feel to it. Portpatrick and Stranraer and both not too far away if you need to dine out or get supplies.

“Best place to stay in Dumfries and Galloway”

Reviewed 9 Jul 2014

We came here for a friends birthday and can honestly say it is one of the best places any of us had ever stayed. The cottage is beautiful, with plenty of room for a large party (12 of us). Surrounding area is fantastic and we had a brilliant BBQ down at the hut by the lodge. Rosemary could not have been nicer or more accommodating to us while we were there which makes all the difference to how nice a break you have. If you get the chance then please book this lodge. We will definitely be back.

“A real gem of a place in a wonderful location.”

Excellent quality accommodation, with bags character and space for outdoor kit. Fantastic location with lovely coastline and short walk across farm land to the beach for driftwood fires watching the sun go down. A BBQ in the Finnish huts make for a great entertainment too. The Rinns offer beautiful coastal walking with stunning sea views across to Ireland and the Isle of Man. There's also excellent cycling with the quietest country lanes you'll ever come across and the trail centres about Newton Stewart under an hour away. We were a party of three families each with two children 5-9 years. Top Marks all round.
