Location description from owner

The England region

The southern side of the Isle of Wight is regarded by many as the most scenic part of the island. The south facing Undercliff is famous for its micro climate, hence the location of The Botanical Gardens at Ventnor and the popularity of the sandy beaches along this coastline. There are plenty of great places to eat in the area including The Hillside Hotel & The Hamborough in Ventnor and The Boathouse Restaurant & Wheelers Crab Shed at Steephill Cove. Other places to visit include Osborne House, The Needles Battery, Alum Bay, Carisbrook Castle and Blackgang Chine.

Niton

Buddle Place is just a few hundred yards from the sea at St Catherines Point, with its famous lighthouse surrounded by National Trust downland. The village of Niton is within walking distance where you will find the post office/tea room, grocer, pub and chemist. The Buddle Inn country pub is a few hundred yards down the road. There are wonderful coastal walks along this part of the Undercliff, one of the Island’s most beautiful stretches of landscape.

“Rain or shine, relaxing by the fire or an exhilarating walk to the lighthouse!”

Reviewed 15 May 2012

Perfect setting for a peaceful break in very comfortable, well designed accommodation with private terrace and large secluded garden- sea view! Well equipped kitchen for self catering ( vg fresh Fish - Ventnor) or local pub-good food/live music . Large airy open living/dining room , simple stylish decor. Ideally located to enjoy coastal walks, St Catherines Lighthouse, Ventnor, Steephill Cove, IOW Glass.

“Immaculate cottage in ideal coastal location”

Reviewed 12 Feb 2012

We have greatly enjoyed our stays at Buddle place, and have just rebooked for the third time. The cottage is in a beautiful location, very quiet and close to the coastal walks around St Catherines Lighthouse. We enjoy the beaching and fossil hunting along the south west coast and then evening walks from the cottage around the lighthouse. We've not seen the red squirrels, that are supposed to be in the nearby woods, but were delighted one dusk when a badger, large as life, casually strolled through the garden. The cottage is immaculate and serenely furnished. Beds are comfortable, a fine pub is around the corner, and good supermarket and butcher close in Niton. The living room is spacious and light and the attractive kitchen opens onto a delightful south facing garden, which has space enough for our young children to amuse themselves while providing a glimpse of the sea.
