The Scotland region

Dumfries and Galloway flows through beautiful rolling countryside and gentle hills with long sandy beaches all to be explored and enjoyed. With small market towns along the way, each one has something of great interest ie; Castle Douglas known for its food, and Kirkudbright for its artists Gatehouse of Fleet well worth a visit. There's the Wickerman Festival held over two days in July at Dundrennan near Kirkudbright, Wigtown holds an agricultural show each August which is well worth a visit with lots to see and do.

Newton Stewart

The Farm is situated in beautiful countryside close to the Merrick and Cairnsmore Hills , with spectacular views more akin to a Highland scene, With all the modern amenities that you require in nearby Newton Stewart , such as Banks supermarkets it's own cinema and swimming pool and an abundance of local shops that will cater for all your needs .

“Excellent Cottage with Great Views.”

Reviewed 22 Jun 2016

Great cottage to Relax and Recharge, Mark and Diane are smashing hosts and the Cottage is great credit to them. You want for nothing while you staying there, as it has every home comfort you could think of. In a great peaceful location with views to match and the welcome gift of milk, shortbread and very tasty marmalade to start your break off. Thank You

“Great base for visiting Dumfries and Galloway”

Reviewed 8 Oct 2013

Myself, my wife, 2 year old son and dog spent a great weekend at this cottage, situated on a farm on the edge of Newton Stewart. The accommodation was spacious and had everything we needed. The kitchen had everything required (and more), there was a big garden for my son and dog to runabout, massive comfortable living room with TV, DVD player and hifi, and we arrived to a basket of free range eggs, home made jam and shortbread. All for a great price of around £50 a night, and that includes gas central heating and electricity. You are made very welcome, and my son loved wandering around the farm to say hello to the pig, chickens, cat and sheep. There's also a book of handy tips and plenty of leaflets to give ideas of what to do in the local area. I would have no hesitation in booking this cottage the next time we visit Dumfries and Galloway.

Arrived and everything was ready and waiting, even a welcome basket of fresh eggs from the farm, biscuits and a pint of milk. (A lovely gesture) Very comfy cottage and well equipped Lovely area for walking and a good base at the cottage. There's also a fishing lake just across the field which we could use at a small fee. Had a lovely time and will be returning next year.

My partner and I were travelling around South Scotland for a week and stayed at Penkiln cottage for two nights at the weekend. The cottage was lovely and really great value for money. It was really kind of the owners to welcome us with fresh eggs and shortbread biscuits and we enjoyed every minute of relaxing in the cottage after our days out walking. Would definitely recommend to friends and family
