Description

CITY CENTRE, SPACIOUS, FAMILY HOUSE Our three storey, unpretentious, townhouse is elegant and furnished mostly with antique furniture and some nice art pieces. We are very nicely situated on a corner facing a church, and quite close to the centre. It works well for parties of 7 to 20 guests, and up to 28 if sharing the large beds. The house is set up with a mix of large beds, singles and bunks, but bed arrangements are flexible by arrangement. There is a bathroom on each floor, a lovely living room with a grand piano, a large dining room, a front garden and a back patio. The 1860 house is homely and full of character. It is close to shops and buses, and many tourist sites are within walking distance. It is an excellent base for visiting Edinburgh and Scotland. it is a five-minute walk from the tram terminus which runs to Edinburgh airport, and approximately 15 minutes walk from the bus station, train station and Scottish tour-bus departure points. Location description from owner

The Scotland region

One of the most popular European capital cities and an excellent starting point for exploring and visiting Scotland. The city has many galleries, museums and parks. The Scottish Enlightenment, lasting some 40 years starting towards the end of the 18th century. Many of the buildings involved still stand. It was a period of great thinkers, inventors and scholars. It is a beautiful, friendly country on the northern edge of Europe, possibly heading for independence several hundred years after losing its parliament with King James VI becoming king James I of the United Kingdom. Music, history, golf, whisky, fresh air and clean water are some of the things Scotland has to offer. Robert Burns was our great poet of the people.

New Town

Edinburgh is near the sea and built on seven hills. It is possible to get a good feel for Edinburgh in a day or two. It is not all flat which gives increased character and makes it easier to work out locations. Do not forget to leave some time for travelling around Scotland and always double the time you think a journey should take. Each region has its own character. Scotland has one of the longest coast lines of all the European countries, particularly for its size.
