“Relaxing break away from it all!”

Reviewed 4 Feb 2016

We had a fantastic stay at the Victorian Barn it far exceeded our expectations and we are looking to stay again soon! Firstly the accommodation - The photos of the barn do not do it justice, it is beautifully appointed and had everything my young family (me, the wife and our 3 year old) could want. The barn comprises a large double high living area with open plan kitchen and dining areas, this open plan space looks out over fields through two large windows that really bring the outside inside. off of this space is a stair up to the twin room with ensuite toilet, a door leading to the double room with ensuite toilet and shower/wetroom, and a cupboard under the stairs. the main living space is a perfect place to snuggle up in the evenings and felt very cozy even though the weather wasn't great. The barn comes fully stocked with everything you could want and the scones with clotted cream were a really nice surprise! Secondly the location - what you don't get from the photos is how secluded the barn is. In the past we have stayed at several cottages and they have always been on or in the grounds of a farm or house. this is not, the barn is surrounded by fields down a little country lane all on its own. so if, like us, you were looking to get away from it all it is perfect. that being said you are only 30 mins from Leicester so when looking for things to do there is plenty on offer (foxton locks and the space centre being highlights for us). as I say it is a great place if you are looking to get away and unwind and we will definitely be going back soon!

The barn was a terrific find and all that we had hoped for. It was a peaceful stay in lovely surroundings. The accommodation was spotless and facilities excellent. We will definitely stay again.

“Great barn in middle of fields - brilliant”

Away from it all was ideal to encourage our daughter to revise but great for walking along Grand Union Canal, visit pubs, drive to battle site etc. Barn well converted and kitted out.

“Really a most delightful barn, light spacious and tastefully done.”

The Victorian Barn was a lovely place in a field away from it all with lovely views of the surrounding country. Very good for walking and close to the canal. The 2 mile walk along the towpath to Foxton locks was very pleasant. There were plenty of good eating places close by in a short car journey. Would recommend The Staff of Life at Mowsley as one. Would love to go back again especially when everywhere was really green. Sarah and Michael were very helpful and most pleasant.
