Runach Arainn ('Secret or Beloved Arran' in Gaelic) is a small, intimate glamping (glamorous camping) site on the south end of the Isle of Arran, Scotland. We offer luxury self-catering accommodation in two 20ft diameter yurts and one 18ft yurt accompanied by private bathrooms. We are an ideal holiday destination for families and couples looking for a short break or a longer vacation. With our proper double beds, wood burning stoves, firepits and sofas we are definitely at the glamorous end of camping!

Our site is set in a small orchard near the village of Kilmory where we have three Scottish made larch wood frame yurts. Each yurt comes fully equipped with all you will need for your holiday including bedding, towels, crockery and cooking utensils. The large yurts can sleep up to six people and the smaller one up to four. They are ideal for a romantic break or as a base for an adventurous family holiday.

Inside each yurt there is a log burning stove including a small oven and outside each yurt has its own fire pit for campfire cooking (trivet and griddle provided) and its own picnic bench. We also provide a box of firewood.

The site is 15mins walk from Torrylinn beach and a similar distance from the Lagg Hotel and Velo Cafe for drinks or an evening meal.

Getting around

Kilmory is a quiet little hamlet and there are plenty of forest and beach walks available from the site. You can use your car to get around the island if you wish, but there is also a regular and reliable bus service running both ways round the island. The nearest bus stop is 5 minutes walk form the site.

Interaction with guest

On arrival we'll show you to your yurt and are happy to leave you to it, but equally we'll help you get the fire going if you need help. We live in the Old Manse adjacent to the site and are normally around to provide advice if required.

A really lovely holiday in Arran. The yurts were so cosy and very well equipped. The children had a great time as we did and spent lots of time outdoors. The yurt was an inviting retreat after a day exploring the island. A great time.

How do damage deposits work?

In most cases, you don’t pay a damage deposit up front. Instead, we save your payment details securely and you’re only charged in the event of damage to the property.

Occasionally, you will pay a damage deposit up front as part of the total rental cost. In this case, the owner has 10 days after you check out to report any damage. If they don’t, we’ll return your deposit. If their claim is successful, we’ll deduct the agreed cost and return the remainder.

You can request to change the dates or number of people on your booking via the Manage your holiday booking page. To change your holiday dates use the Edit booking button. If you need to change the number of guests staying then send Andrew (the owner) a message.

If Andrew (the owner) agrees, they’ll send you a revised quote outlining the changes. You can review and accept/decline this from the Manage your holiday booking page. You’ll have 48 hours to take action before the revised quote expires.
