The England region

In Thrupp is The Boat public house with its open fire and beamed ceilings. A gentle, short stroll along the Oxford Canal towpath towards the nearby village of Kidlington leads to the Jolly Boatman. Both pubs serve a selection of drinks and good food. There are many walks to be enjoyed nearby, either canal-side or along the banks of the River Cherwell, which is abundant with wildlife and birds. A ½-hour walk along the towpath or short drive in the car leads to Kidlington, which, recognised as the largest village in England, caters for every need - having several supermarkets, post office, chemists, launderette and various pubs and cafés. There is a nearby Park and Ride service into the city of Oxford as well as a regular bus service from the village. The M40 motorway is easily reached, connecting to either London or Birmingham in about 1 hour.

“Perfect family trip!”

Reviewed 14 Jan 2016

A weekend trip with my family to celebrate a birthday! Property is a good size with all the self catering comforts of home. A lovely garden space at the rear allowed those wanting a little activity could kick a ball - I imagine in the summer this provides a lovely sitting and BBQ area. The rear of the property overlooks fields and is very pretty. The beds are very comfortable and it provided a cosy family getaway - loved the wood burning stove! The customer service was great from booking through helping with directions. The location is lovely with plenty of opportunity for walks and the countryside but close enough to Oxford for a trip.
