This stunning holiday home is the perfect base for enjoying a visit to the Isle of Wight. Fabulous accommodation, wonderful sea views and a prime location near the town center and seafront makes this home the number one choice.

A lovely period house overlooking Cowes harbour benefiting from a quiet position yet close to the sea front, restaurants and shops and only a few minutes walk from the high speed passenger ferry. This well appointed property with 5 double bedrooms, 3 en-suite shower rooms and a fabulous big family bathroom is the perfect destination for holiday makers and corporate guests. The impressive entrance hall provides plenty of space for new arrivals and entertaining and the sitting room has comfortable seating for 10 people with direct access to the patio. The formal dining room has a beautiful wooden floor, original marble-surround fireplace and dining table for 10. The spacious, fully equipped kitchen/diner has a tiled floor with under-floor heating, loads of worktop space and seating for 8. The ground and 4 upper floors of the house are connected by a magnificent spiral staircase, giving the house the wow factor. A 32" Technica HD digital LED TV with 80 Freeview channels and USB media player is provided in the sitting room with another in the dining room. Fibre optic BT Infinity broadband and wifi is available throughout the house.

The vehicle hardstand at the front of the house has parking for one car and further parking space is available by arrangement. At the back of the property, the attractive west-facing walled patio comes with table, chairs, sun awning and barbecue. The third floor master bedroom has a balcony with wonderful sea views.The top of the house has a roof terrace accessed by a "ship's ladder" from the top floor landing. The roof terrace offers stunning views of the harbour and Solent as far as the mainland and across the island towards the Downs. 18 Castle Road makes a perfect destination, being a short walk from the high speed passenger ferry and close to the sea front, shops, restaurants and marina. The comfortable bedrooms have either king-size or super king-size double beds, which can be separated into single beds if required to form twin-bedded rooms. There is 1 family bathroom fully tiled with bath, shower, twin hand basins, WC, airing cupboard, heated towel rail and under-floor heating. The 3 en-suite shower rooms are fully tiled with shower, hand basin and WC and there is a separate WC with hand basin.

The house benefits from a magnificent spiral staircase and bedrooms at the front of the house enjoy unrivalled views of the harbour and Solent. Access to the roof terrace is from the "ship's ladder" on the top floor landing. The spacious tiled entrance reception and rear lounge have under-floor heating. The fully fitted kitchen/diner can seat up to 8 people and has a tiled floor with under-floor heating. The formal dining room with its original marble surround fireplace and wood floor seats 10 and the same number can be accommodated in the comfortable sitting room, with its large flat screen television.

The front hardstand provides parking for one vehicle with parking for up to 3 additional vehicles by arrangement. Security points are provided for cycle storage. The attractive west-facing walled terraced patio at the back of the house has a table and chairs for 10 people, a barbeque and lighting. The third floor balcony is accessed from bedroom 3 and has wonderful harbour and Solent views.

The roof terrace enjoys far-reaching views towards Southampton and Portsmouth, the harbour, town and centre of the island beyond Newport. Being close to the high speed passenger ferry, a car is optional and if they prefer guests have the choice of car and cycle hire nearby. The Parade and sea front are a few minutes' walk as are famous yacht clubs, such as the Royal Yacht Squadron and Royal Ocean Racing Club. Northwood Park with its tennis courts and children's playground is at the back of the house. The high speed ferry, yacht marina, boutique shops and restaurants are all close by.

- A 20% deposit is requested at time of booking with full settlement payment 6 weeks prior to let.

- A 20% fully refundable damage deposit is required in addition to the rent, which will be refunded in full, subject to the property being left as found.

- The house must be left clean to receive full refund of deposit. Cleaning service is available at an extra charge.

The Isle of Wight region

The Isle of Wight has a multitude of attractions and offers everything you could want for the family and groups of friends. Sailing, para gliding, wind surfing, walking, cycling, swimming, sight seeing, beach combing, Jurassic coast, are all provided in the Isle of Wight. Places of interest are the historical Osborne House (home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert), Carisbrooke Castle (where Charles 1st was imprisoned), the Garlic Farm, Botanic Gardens, Rosemary's Vineyard and Island Pottery. Many other places of interest, the beautiful coast and rural environment are all there to be discovered by foot, bike, car or yacht with easy access to coastal paths and cycle routes from the house.


Cowes is a major yachting centre and perfect base from which to visit the island. Guests staying at Cliffhanger can enjoy the wonderful sea views and activity in Cowes harbour and benefit from easy access to the many places of interest and scenic walks that the island provides. The town of Cowes is attractively laid out with a sea front parade and pier and pedestrianised high street, offering a choice of shops, restaurants and pubs for the visitor to enjoy. The high speed passenger ferry to Southampton is centrally located at Fountain Pier.

The excellent restaurants, wine bars, pubs and Yacht Marina are within a few minutes' walk of the house. To the rear of Cliffhanger is Northwood House and park with its extensive grounds, public tennis courts, bowling green and children's play area.

For those interested in walking, cycling and country pursuits, Cowes is an ideal base, with easy access to all parts of the island.

Separated from Cowes by the river Medina is East Cowes, accessible by chain ferry. Well worth a visit is the magnificent Osborne House, former home of Queen Victoria and Prince Albert.

"There is not a one single word to describe how much my family enjoyed this property"

This house is absolutely gorgeous. I booked it for my family - a group of 10 people. The views are stunning from within the property and the house is maintained in an immaculate state. Thank you Chris for all your help and making my parents trip to the UK a lovely memory to cherish.

"Cowes dream"

A fantastic 6 story house extremely close by to Cowes town centre, but far enough away to avoid the noise or people. Fantastic views from the roof terrace (accesible via a step ladder) across Cowes harbour and the solent and with 3 of the bedrooms facing outwards it provided a lovely sea breeze over night. Bathroom per room which was great for our group of 7. Bedrooms and bathrooms were very clean and well provided in terms of sheets and towels. Kitchen has everything you would need and the outdoor downstairs terrace has plenty of seating and a great BBQ. Parking for one car only but loads of room in the hallway entrance for bikes, suitcases, shoes, buggies etc. Although with 6 floors not a house for the lazy or unfit. I would recommend this place to others and will be returning next year for sure. Perfect for a large group, a large family or perhaps 2/3 couples getting away from it all.

"Gracious, spacious, comfortable house in a superb location"

We have just spent a few days at Cliffhanger to celebrate the end of my sons' GCSE and AS exams - it was a real tonic. The house more than lived up to our expectations - it is homely and cosy yet has a fresh,contemporary feel. The views are lovely especially from the two main bedrooms and the roof terrace. The location is superb - down the road is the centre of town/the marina and just up behind the house Northwood House where we played loads of tennis and walked our dog. Just perfect. The owner was very helpful in responding to our queries pre-arrival and our security deposit was returned as soon as we left. We would definitely choose this house again on any future visit.

"Superb property ... But issues getting deposit back"

We stayed for a short break and without doubt this is a superb property with excellent views. However the experience getting our deposit back marred the whole holiday - it was long winded and involved discussions about how many towels we had used and which beds had been slept in (really quite incredible!). As a bunch of well travelled professionals we found this unbelievable; we went to some lengths at the end of the stay to make sure the place was immaculate. The long and short is that £20 was deducted from our deposit (negotiated down from £25) for two broken Ikea glasses (which we were very honest about) and washing a couple of towels. A nominal amount, but left the impression the owner was out for every penny rather than repeat custom. In future I think the owner would be better off increasing prices to reflect incidentals; it would certainly encourage visitors to rebook. I'm afraid we'd go elsewhere.

I'm glad they thought the property superb. Unfortunately, a larger group stayed than was booked. Their was slight damage and more linen and towels used than allowed for under the original booking. Once the cost of damages and extra laundry was agreed the deposit was returned immediately less those costs.

"Great location, amazing views, gorgeous house! Wonderful surprise."

We hired this house for my father-in-law's 60th birthday for immediate family. It was a surprise and what a fantastic surprise it was. From the minute we walked in we could tell it was going to be a very special weekend. Every room was well thought out and had everything we needed. All the bedrooms were very spacious and comfortable and both the kitchen and dining room were very well equipped and social. The hallway was very impressive and a great size,we had a baby with us so brilliant for the pushchair. We were also very lucky with the weather and spent some time on the roof terrace which had amazing views, our teenager was very impressed! Location was also excellent, all the shops just a short walk away (5-10 minutes), And if the chain ferry had been working (unfortunately closed that week due to annual maintenance) , just 5 minutes from red funnel ferry port. We had a fantastic weekend and would definitely recommend this house. Communication with Chris was great and we would love to go back! At the end of the weekend no one had anything negative to say - what more can I say!

"Peaceful Luxury in the heart of Cowes with Outstanding Views!"

We hired this house for the weekend to celebrate my dad's 60th birthday with the immediate family. I only wish we had hired it for the week! The bedrooms are gorgeous, especially the master with its huge bathroom and roll-top bath. The roof terrace gives wonderful views out to the solent and is the best place to enjoy a cup of tea in the morning. A generous sized kitchen with everything needed for your stay - even milk in the fridge, fresh flowers on the table, a box of biscuits and the local paper. Little things that really make a difference. It truly is a stunning property - cant imagine how anyone could own this and not live here! We will definitely be returning.

"An Outstanding Property in an Outstanding Location"

The pictures do not do the house justice - it is an amazing property! The property is furnished to the highest standards for comfort and cleanliness, you will enjoy very comfortable beds made up with quality linen also there is three luxurious en-suite shower rooms and a beautiful bathroom for your enjoyment. The kitchen is very well equipped again to the highest standard. The house is set over many floors and the view from the room terrace is wonderful. We booked this property in a rush to attend the funeral of my brother the owner made the booking process very easy and without fuss for which we are grateful as there was so many other things to attend to at the same time. We arrived late after a long journey from Cheshire and the little touches such as the house being warm warmed in advance meant we were able to drop our bags and make a cup of tea to enjoy with some lovely biscuits. We have visited the Island many times but this house is by far the best accommodation we have stayed in. We hope to return later in the year and spend a few more days enjoying the splendour the house has to offer it's occupants.

Lovely house in great location, close to town and seafront . Extremely well equipped and cared for and suitable for guests of all ages. Amazing views from the roof terrace approached by steep staircase but well worth the effort !

"Fabulous house in a great location in Cowes"

We spent a weekend at this amazing house. It's in a great location, close to all the sailing clubs and the view has to be the best in Cowes! It's beautifully done and very well kitted out. All 5 double bedrooms are lovely and all a good size, 3 of them have en-suite shower rooms which are small but really nicely done, and the family bathroom is magnificent. The kitchen has everything you could need, and the dining room is lovely. The roof terrace is amazing with absolutely stunning views in each direction. Landlord was very helpful and accomodating. We'll definitely be coming back.

"What a fantastic House in a great central location"

Myself and 8 friends were in Cowes for a sailing weekend and needed a base within walking distance of the town. To say we were delighted with the house is a masssive understatement. The house itself is beautifully decorated with plenty of room for a party of our size. ( we had 11 for a sit down meal at the dining table ! ) It is nicely located with an easy 5 minute stroll into town. We had a really great time and would highly recommend Cliffhanger to anyone. mark
