“Peaceful retreat”

Reviewed 30 Oct 2017

We spent a warm and cosy stay in this sweet little cottage, my parents husband and 17 year old son and dog all had a great week. A good place to explore from we manage Oban, Fort William, Bute and Arran .The views we wonderful and we enjoyed the bird and wild life. Andrew came and welcomed us and at the end of the week he came and said bye . He was available if we needed anything but left us to enjoy our week. The cottage had all we needed and was very warm and plenty of space for the 5 of us.

Owner's reply: Many thanks for your kind review, and I much appreciate the time you took to write it. Please come again Andrew

“Perfect for a girly weekend”

Reviewed 12 Sep 2017

We stayed here for 2 nights as we were taking part in the Kyles 10 MIles road race. There was 5 of us and the house was perfect for a self catering weekend, with everything you would need. Plenty bathrooms, hot water and comfortable beds. Located not far from Tighnabruaich and lots of other attractions for those looking for a peaceful, outdoors break. Communication with the owner was good and access to property was straight forward. Would definitely recommend.

Owner's reply: many thanks and we look forward to seeing you again. Andrew

“Scotland at it's perfect best”

Reviewed 10 Jun 2012

The owners were very responsive from the very first contact and made booking a pleasure. The property itself was lovely and even nicer than the photographs. Different styles of furniture blended in together making a lovely, fresh comfortable home away from home. Everything you could hope for was provided throughout the home - especially in the kitchen - but do remember to take your hairdryer. The views and walks locally are stunning and the area has a friendly taxi driver and lots of nice pubs and restaurants. Favourite thing, a deck to sit out on, least favourite - no hanging space for clothes. Normally not a problem but we were going to a wedding and wanted to hang our outfits up, just had to give them a going over with the very good quality iron.

“Location, Sensation, Vacation”

Reviewed 5 Aug 2011

A cracking location to stay right on the shore of the beautiful Loch Riddon by the Kyles of Bute. The brand new cottage was a sensation with excellent design allowing ensuite facilities for every room, comfy beds, excellent heating, great views from the kitchen and dining room as well as plenty of space to relax and enjoy ourselves...Brian the labrador also enjoyed it! We love the West coast of Scotland and this place had everything we like to enjoy fishing (mackerel and even a Pollock), epic walks (360 degree view of whole area from Mull of Kintyre to Mull at very top behind cottage but it is a bit of a scramble), golf and access to quaint villages and the Western Isles. The weather we prepared for was rain and we got sunshine whilst the owners made us very welcome although look out for a visit from their very friendly big black labrador, Tarmigan, at breakfast time Well worth a visit

“Shelduck Cottage - an ideal getaway for peace and quiet with wonderful countryside and scenery on your doorstep”

Reviewed 19 Jul 2011

Shelduck Cottage is a wonderful cottage to stay and form your base in this part of Argyllshire. Beautifully situated at the head of Loch Riddon, it offers a fantastic start to the day to walk the dogs on the estuary. The cottage is beautifully appointed and extremely well thought out with all the amenities. Situated on the Tighnabruaich Road, it is easy to explore further down the coastline or take the short ferry ride from Colintraive to Bute. After a day exploring, what better to come back to the cottage and enjoy a 'dram' or several with the wood stove warming up the lovely lounge. A great place to stay and make your base and Andrew and Sheila Barker are the most welcoming of hosts.
