Location description from owner

The England region

Known as the Garden of England this area is famous for growing Hops and apples. The Estate was originally a hop farm. Attractions in Kent include the beautiful castle of Leeds, Hever and Dover. Some fantastic beeches are accessed along the coast between Rye and Hythe. The quaint Cinque Port towns provide an enjoyable day out by the sea and the historic Dock yards at Chatham are great for old and young alike. The world famous cathedral at Canterbury and punting on the river Stour are not to be missed.

Challock

Challock provides two pubs, one serving excellent food 7 days a week and a barn shop providing local Kent produce. The towns of Canterbury, Ashford and Faversham are within easy reach by car. Challock is a rural community with horse ridding, walking and cycling in some of Kent's most beautiful countryside including the amazing Kings wood. Also available in the village is the Kent Gliding club where you can book a passenger ride to soar high above your accommodation and see all across Kent on a clear day. The Beech Court Tea Rooms and gardens are also worth a visit.

“Fabulous place, so comfortable and clean.”

Reviewed 9 Nov 2016

Loved this place, it was very comfortable and the beds too were good, the cottage was very clean and the facilities excellent. It was close to all the things you need, within easy reach of London, and Paris, we loved our stay, our relatives from Canada were very impressed as well, would highly recommend this cottage, will be going back again.

Thank you for your lovely review. It was great to meet you all and are really glad you all enjoyed the cottage and its amenities. We do enjoy a beautiful location that is very central for all Kents attractions plus trips to London and Paris and we make every effort to keep the cottage clean and well presented for guests. We look forward to having you back for another stay in future, many thanks Nigel and Wendy

“Tranquil location with lots of space”

Reviewed 16 Apr 2014

We really enjoyed our stay at Hop Cottage. Nigel and Wendy made everything perfect and we wanted for nothing, even providing us with yummy duck eggs! The views from the conservatory are beautiful and we spent a gorgeous evening by the lake with a few glasses of bubbly. We visited Chapel Down winery during the day on Saturday and went for a night out in Canterbury, both in easy reach of Hop Cottage . We can't wait to come back next year!

“une belle maison dans un beau paysage”

Reviewed 29 Apr 2013

Nous sommes partis à 4 adultes et 4 enfants dont un bébé. The property is very cute: lot of flowers, the garden is very well-kept. It's possible to eat outside ( garden furniture, barbecue).

“A fantastic first meeting with the Garden of England”

A superb cottage in the middle of meadows, forests, towns, castles,.... Everything you need is there in the cottage. There's a foodshop is nearby: the barn shop and in a 15-minute drive you have supermarkets,... Nice towns to vist. Fantastics woods to go walking, biking,... Even with the bad weather ( snow, rain) there's plenty to do. Chatham Dockyards is fantastic to vist for all ages. Next year we'll surely go back. Very friendly owners. We would recommend to everybody! Nigel sends loads of informations by mail whiwh is very helpfull to plan your trip.

“Relaxing and highly interesting stay in the heart of Kent”

Reviewed 7 Nov 2012

Our vacation at the Hop Cottage Landews Meadow in October 2012 started with a nice hallo by Wendy and Nigel. We entered the lovely equipped wonderful cottage. A tasty cake was standing on the dining room table. The situation of the house could not have been better. The surroundings were first-class and we have enjoyed a nice rest which never would have been equal relaxing at our home. Already at the evening of our arrival day we went to Canterbury and strolled through the snug lanes and enjoyed the impressions. We later also visited the cathedral. This is really a very impressive building together with all its history. If you travel around in Kent, it is to be recommended to visit the Historic Dock Yards. We could view a submarine, a warship, the shipyard were the Victory, Nelsons ship, was built and the historic ropery. Honestly the guide at the ropery was really extraordinary. We have gone to see a lot from south east England. To walk about the White Cliffs of Dover was exciting and thrilling. If you are in Kent do not forget to visit Leeds Castle a nicer castle than this, nobody of us had ever seen before. We have visited many places; we purchased at Sainsbury's and strolled through the wide area of the Outlet Center of Ashford. Nevertheless, a highlight was the ride with Teddy and Jasper. It has given pleasure again to be able to do horse riding and even the weather has joined in perfectly. Both horses have properly become dear to us. Hop Cottage Landews Meadow, located in the heart of Kent is greatly suitable to stay central and reach out exciting targets in short times. Many thanks for everything! The vacation was wonderful, witty, interesting and thrilling.

Thank you for choosing to stay at Landews Meadow and for the lovely review you have left, it is very rewarding for us to know that the cottage and location were to your liking. It was a pleasure to meet you and your family, we enjoyed leading you through the woods and fields on horse back and we hope in future to add some more animals to our menagerie for the enjoyment of our guests. We were very glad to give you your first experience of riding a horse and to get your daughter back in the saddle, we would love to see the pictures you took. Thank you again for your very kind review, do visit again in the future. Nigel and Wendy
